car studers when reving up

car is a 89 civic wagon has a d15. car starts to stuter when you are going throw the gears.like it feels like it is backing up.then the power kicks in.any help would be good thanks

Check your ignition timing.

Is your check engine light on? Have you done a tune-up recently?

are you sure its not just misfiring under load? check your plugs and wires or if its been quite awhile just go ahead and do a tune up on your hot rod.

yah ceck light fore code 4.thats for o2 and heat senser. but i took it to the shop they check the wires,plugs and they changed the disturbater cap and cleard the code and now it runs shity.
but i have know started ajusting the timing and it is runing better

you timing belt is prob old and worn out
