Default Need advice on gsr head rebuild!

Heres my long sad story shortened....I recently did a gsr swap and soon after it was hydrolocked, found that the valves were bent and my civic wont crank over to start.

So im rebuilding my head and need good aftermarket performance parts: valves, springs, retainers, rockers, and everything else.

So if anyone knows any good brand names let me know, it'll really help.

what are your goals for this motor? itr valves are fine, and nothing beats oem reliability. dont be afraid to use aftermarket springs and retainers on itr valves, they are proven to 600+hp

For the price and quality, you can't go wrong with supertech

Very true...OEM reliability with itr components is a given. However, if you need to replace the internals, there are many companies that sell good, high quality products. No need to go with Toda, too expensive and there is better stuff out there...

For valves, Ferrea or Supertech are very reliable. Supertech being the favorites to use because of their price to quality ratio. You cant beat them...

For valve springs and retainers i would also go with supertech. Unless you want something like the Skunk2 pro series kit.

O and by the way, valves, valve springs, and retainers do nothing, in a performance standpoint. They are strictly used to shed some weight internally, higher quality, and to provide better reinforcement for higher lift cams.

Cams are what give the performance from the head, the other stuff just helps the cams in order for them not to [freak] up the entire head.

But yea...supertech is the way to go...

Thanks to JRSC01GS-R, ruffrhyder, JdmTypeRdc2 for the info.

I was really looking into supertech's black nitride valves. They are a little more than the stainless steels. Any know the pros and cons, if any? And which should i go with, Flat or Dish shaped valves?

Im trying to put back my civic's gsr engine with good and reliable parts, due to the fact that it was hydrolocked.....And im not saying that it wont happen with the parts im gonna be putting in, I just want this swap to be perfect. Cause when you spend this much money and time into a project, it [stinks] to have it go down the drain when i could of easily prevented it.

i'm with ferrera or supertech on valves. i paid $230 for a set of 16 of the ferrera 6000's. springs always should be matched to the cams you are running. if you are using stock cams more spring pressure is just going to sap HP. spend your money on a 3 angle valve job. have the guides checked and buy some type of viton valve seal.
