Default Benefits of JDM Type-R Cams in a 99 Si B16A2????

Hey guys,

Wondering what real benefits i will gain from putting 97 spec JDM Type-R Cams with Dual Valve Springs/retainers and a Ported Type R intake manifold in my B16A2??? My 99 Si is basicly stock with just intake/header/exhaust and is my daily driver. My friend is selling cams/valvesprings/intake manifold and will give me a good deal on them. All input is greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

you will gain mid range tq and hp through out the revs seeing the cams have a higher lift and duration

use the itr springs cuz you could drop a valve on the exhaust side seeing it has single springs

Putting on the type r mani gives you high end but you will lose your low end. Basically you want to keep your low and mid range on you car. Unless you just want topend then you can put the the type r mani and lose torque. Its up to you. I just kept my stock b16 mani and port matched it with a type R tb. My car was faster than my friends b16 with ctr cams,skunk2 mani, and type r tb. Mine was b16 with ctr cams, stock mani ported matched with a type r tb. Both cars were hatches.

btw cams are worthless without tune. I have skunk2 stage 1 with valvetrain (w/o tune) and the car barely has anymore power, but runs extremely rich (black soot everywhere). However, the vtec crossover is significantly more dramatic...

I do have a p30 laying around from my old beater civic i suppose i could have chipped and run a conversion harness. Where should i send it to be chipped and what program should i run???? I only have basic bolt-ons (I/H/E) right now and plan on keeping the car pretty lightly modded.
