Tri-Y headers toughing Trani housing... should I be concerned???
I bought a set of Tri-Y header for my 97 JDM-B18C-R (w/ 4.7 Trani) and when I installed it on my car the bend of the A pipe touches the trani housing or more specifically the flywheel cover, causing the end of the header/B pipe to have a downward slope to it. We had to put a jack under the header to pry it up when welding the brackets. I turned out fine but I know there's tension on it. Should I be concerned that in time the vibration might crack my trani housing or is that even possible???

I think I figured it out; my old D series flywheel cover/inspection plate was made of a thin sheet of metal. My B-Series cover is a cast allow which in turn is much thicker, I'm thinking that I should be able to use the cover from my D-Series which would give me more room for the Header to clear.

Bingo!!!
Replace your flywheel cover with one from a GSR or something.

I am running a itr tranny and the header rattled against the flywheel cover. I tried shaving down the cover to the point where you could almost see thru it. No dice. Let me know if the d-series cover will work for you. I hope so for both of our situations.
