Default Shifting rpms

When you guys are out there driving your car to the max or drag racing or etc, do you guys
A. Redline it OR
B. Shift it at your preference and if so at what rpms do you shift at?

I bounce my needle till I smell something burning

No but blinking is the time to shift Either blinking or solid, solid is right before the limiter kicks in so you better be fast

Shift when you reach peak hp...usually by about 7500 you can feel the nose start to drop again.

This is actually the best advice the cams aren't making any more power at 8k or above. I like 75k -78k and thats it.

7500 is enough for me. High enough to still be in VTEC after shift.

No. Shift at the blinking light. The car's power output is already flat-lining by the time you hit the rev limiter. It's useless to shift that high.

when you shift to early you are landing out of teh vtec window. I kno that if i shift any earlier then 8K from first to second i dont land in vtec.

Light starts blinking right after 7K . . . take it to 8k. Car will let u take it to about 8.5 but you need a little room to play with incase you over rev or someting or miss so just take it to about 8K maybe a tad past and you will be good

Hey I got a 07 civic si at about 18k. I was driving home from work the other day and attempted to pass a slow driving car. I didn't do anything out of the norm, didn't have to redline it or anything. I heard a clunk and thought I ran over something and pulled over. Nothing under the car or in the street so I pulled up a little to see if I still heard the clunk sound and I did. Put the car in reverse heard it too. Ened up having it towed to my Honda dealership where they are currently waiting on hondatech to give them the go ahead to tear down the trans. I haven't abused my baby yea I play with her but nothing overly extensive. I have a warranty of course but I'm freakin out because I don't know what's wrong and I'm hoping that whatever the problem might be it's covered under the warranty. I have had problems with my third gear and they are aware of this. You think this may have something to do with the trans. acting up?
