They are a layer, and will slow a crook down a little. It may scare amateur thieves away.
But, as far as being the only thing securing your car, it's no good.

Have a kill switch, alarm, etc. yet?

from what I hear, a good boot works very well as a deterrent, but it won't stop someone from breaking in and jacking your stuff.

Nothing will stop a motivated thief with a flatbed. The trick is to use as many layers of security as possible. Killswitches+removable wheel+alarm+boots+relocated hood cable+ecu removed+moat w/sharks and laser beams tends to discourage a man.

NOOOOO! the alpha lock is junk, it leaves ur lugs exposed... all a theif has to do is take ur wheel off and put another one on and drive away. get one that COVERS UR LUGS!

The one that covers the lugs is a plus but I'm not sure on the lock mechanism and how think the steel really is I've never seen that one before so i cant rate it I do have the alpha lock with a with a tilt and motion sensor on my alarm with pager but nothing works better that a gps based alarm if they take it you can find it. This will only stop common criminals not the high tech bastards with tow trucks. Everything is used as a deterrent but a gps will do the recovery and lockups the bastards who stole your car in the first place.

The alpha lock is good if you have wheel locks, of course.
