Need help with suspension
Contrary to everyone's desire with a motorcycle, I need to RAISE my front riding height / suspension. I need to do this because the vehicle inspector said my headlights point too low and is a riding hazard. Anyways im hoping to raise the suspension to make my headlights appear to point higher up and lower it back to normal when the inspection is over.

the picture is pretty large so ill just post a link
I am pretty inexperienced with motorcycle repairs for such a large bike but my guess is that the outer nut indicated by the red arrow is what adjusts the suspension height while the inner brass nut adjusts the spring stiffness. At a glance I would think cranking the outer nut left or right would adjust the height up or down (something I have yet to figure out) but I am not entirely sure. Is this correct or completely way off?
any help from motorcycle experts would be most appreciated. This is a 2004 yamaha r1.

If you are indeed in Japan, i'd take the bike to a shop that understands the inspection rules and have them adjust it (more likely the headlights, not the suspension, unless something is out of whack).
You cant really get away with half-assing it through the inspection like you can in the US.

how do you do that?
adjusting the light projection, I mean.
I would read the manual but my Japanese isn't THAT good yet so I can't understand all those cryptic Chinese characters.

Yeah see if you can adjust the headlight, the **** you pointed at are for
adjusting the spring stiffnes as in preload and the inner ones adjust damping
compression and rebound. good luck

Alright! I figured it out. Turns out there are some readily accesible screws you can adjust to adjust the beam projection height.

And well I guess it wouldn't hurt too much to post my bike.
Notice how where the "R1" sticker should be, I have "YZF" instead. Only Japanese R1s have that. (nothing special really)
Thanks for the help guys. This thread definitely helped me figure this out
