Default Tailight water leak EK OWNERS HELP!

posted a thread in the beginning of this week with the problem of my taillights leaking water into the trunk of my hatchback. everyone said i needed new taillight gaskets, bout 2 new ones from the dealership and didnt fix my problem. rain still gets in the trunk when it rains through the taillights. anyone has anymore suggestions on what to do to fix this issue? thanks

I had the same issue..what i did was get some clear silicon from homedepot and put a layer around the taillight back..so water can't leak into trunk, so make it nice and make sure to cover it up well.should solve the problem..

what do u mean by the back of the taillight the part that touchs the car or glue the gasket to the tailight?

i put a nice thick layer around that and it seemed to have stopped the leak..

Yeah you would, you'd just have to reapply silicon. Der! It's pretty inexpensive, and I don't see why tail lights would come on and off repeatedly.


Here's an idea, don't live in Seattle. lol

Common problem. A nice strip of silicon will do the trick. Only way I've found to fix the issue.

You should check in your rear quaters for a hole. I thought I had the same problem of water being let in by holes where the taillights are. But after testing if water goes in there it didnt.

THere was a hole on the driver side near the gas tank line. Dirt collected there corroded the **** out of the corner, and now theres a hole

hide in your trunk, have someone ridiculously water hose your read end (car ofcourse) and detect the leak. silicone is your best friend from there on forward.
