Default what driveshaft do i need?

well i just got around to putting my tranny in, its a 88 civic tranny on a 91 civic motor. well heres the problem i went to go put my driveshaft on (passenger side) and it was like an half inch too long, i cant get the ball joint to connect. now when i first bought the car i had to replace the drive shaft and found out eather the hub or the old tranny was out of a crx so i replaced it with the crx driveshaft and it worked perfect. So what i need to know is what driveshaft do i use? the civic one is too big for the hub, different spline at lest the 91 that i know of.
