Default car shut off

this morning while going to work, i was getting off the freeway and my car died. I restarted it then it died with out giving it any gas. I started it again and gave it gas to not die. I was not that far from work so i tried to get there as safe as possible. When driving it like this, it was very sluggish and a knocking noise from the head.

I let it sit for a couple of hours then went to look at it. It was a little bit low on water but not much. It started up just fine, so I left it warming up. After 10 mins or so, I jumped back in and it died as soon as hit hit the clutch.

no codes or check engine light.

any suggestions?
