Stalling / Starting Problems
Heya again guys. I posted a little while back asking about some rough idling in our 95 civic. We're in the midst of cleaning out the throttle body and iacv, we also replaced the air filter to a k&n.
The car was running better up until today when I pulled up to make the turn onto our street and it stalled. It wouldn't start up on its own either (we had to push down a little on the gas to be able to get it to start). It did this a couple times as we crawled down the street to the house. Sometimes it'd start up on its own, sometimes we had to push down on the gas.
So would this problem be related to the whole throttle body getting gunked up or what else could it be? We didn't see any leaks or stains so I don't think it's the fuel line itself. I'm hoping it's just gunk build up in the fuel system, my fiance's figuring it might be the fuel filter or the fuel pump.
UPDATE 1:
Ok so little update now that we've cleaned some stuff out. The fiance fired some cleaner down into the throttle body and wiped it down with a rag. Also wiped down the grate on the iacv and stuck a little qtip down into the other hole.
Replaced the fuel filter, which I think was causing the starting problems (it was about 3/4th clogged).
It seems to have improved some, but the idle still sits real low (around 500rpm). When it's put into park, the car will rev up to around 1200 but then pulsate/seesaw til it's down to near nothing, almost stalling, but at least it doesn't actually kick over anymore.
What do you guys suggest we should take as a next step? My fiance figures he's going to replace the O2 sensor and maybe actually disconnect the iacv to clean it better.
UPDATE 2:
We recleaned out the iacv, changed the O2 sensor, and cleaned out the throttle body a bit more...but it's still doing a rough idle. In fact, on our test run around the neighborhood, it stalled...three times! (Twice on the same stop, then once as we were pulling up to the house.)
I'm really getting stumped here. ><

its probably not getting enough air due to the iacv, on my car i usually have to step on the gas pedal just a little bit to keep it from stalling because i have a faulty iacv.

I'd check for dry solder in the main relay (http://www.tegger.com/hondafaq/mainr...ion/index.html)
