the car shuts off/dies while driving it. all the dash lights and gauges stop working and flickers on off. then it shuts off. and when i try to start it again. it would start and shut off right away. i would have to wait couple of mins before it would run again. i got it checked with a mechanic and he said that the alternator was going bad. you could hear a rattling sound from the alternator. and said the bearings are going out. so today i replaced it with a remanufactered alternator. it wasnt making the rattling sound no more. so i thought it was good. then i let it charge a little awhile and drove it around. about 20 -30 mins later it started happening again. any idea what the problem could be. let me know. thanks.

btw. its a 95 ex with a h22a1 swap.

Have you replaced the distributer lately? Other than the dash going out etc. if your engine isn't getting sparks I would guess dizzy.

 

MY car would just die when driving and sometime when I started it it would die. After some GREAT advice from this forum I found out it was my ignition switch. Ceratin models have a recall on them. Mine is a 99 accord lx 4 cyl. I got the switch replaced and it has been running fine now.

 

sounds like the electrical portion of the ignition switch very common.
