You might be looking for the pioneer avid-d3 nav system. I thought I remember hearing something about that being discontinued. Not positive though, but go to pioneer's website and you'll find out for sure.
the avic-d3 is the discontinued model. It is a low quality piece. The avic-z2 is is the newer edition. It is much better, but still not worth the money. If I might recommend an eclipse piece or clarion, they are the best by far.

It isn't low quality by any means! I'd say its entry-level. It just doesn't have some of the features the higher end models do like HDD navigation, and a full 7" screen.
It's a great way to get into touch screen navigation without having to buy a Jensen/Dual/Walmart brand navi unit.

The kenwood unit I voted for is light years ahead of what anyone else has, in my opinion.

What about the AVIC-Z3?

What about the AVIC-Z3?
Just got the Z2 installed in my '07. Got the Z3 HDD upgrade, meaning I have a 60 Gig HDD now, the backup camera, the bluetooth, the iPod adapter, the steering wheel control interface, and the remote control all installed at stereo shop in Greensburg (which I'm sure the OP is familiar with) for $1650. That's $1250 for all the parts shipped since I found a steal on eBay + $220 for install parts +180 for labor. I don't think they knew what they were getting into b/c they only charged me $180 and they had it from 10 AM to 6 PM. I'll post pics soon if you'd like, or you can even PM me and I'll meet you in Connellsville to show you the setup sometime...

How did you accomplish this seeing how Pioneer's website lists the Z3's HDD being the same size as the Z2. Did you out 2 of them inside?

Good question...I said it wrong. Z3 maps on a 60 GB HDD...Garrett Toomey sells em on AVIC411.com.

From Stereo Shop. They ordered it from Metra. I wasn't too pleased with the quality. Maybe try a Scoche.

This statement made me a little upset, To tell you a little about myself... I have been installing professionally for 6 years, I am MECP advanced certified, and personally have an AVIC-D3 in my Si... Here we go, Pioneer's navigation software has won best nav. software at CES 4 out of the last 5 years starting out with their N1's and D1's a few years back. The D3 is considered an "affordable" navigation without a HDD, but with the capability of having every option the Z3 does as far as accessories go. (Bluetooth, Bluetooth Audio, Back-up Cam, Sirius, XM, etc...) The Z3 has 3D maps and a little nicer software, but that is definitely why it is around 2k$ (and totally worth it IMO)
If you were to choose one of the 2 in the poll, I would probably go with the D3 for it's ease of use and reliability, the Kenwood has a really awful DVD function and if you plan on watching movies a lot the control for the DVD is pretty lame/frustrating. But the Kenwood's navigation software is a direct copy off of a Garmin unit, which means it is very easy to use and very reliable. Pioneer GPS takes a little getting used to but it is flawless, not to mention you can search POI by phone number.
I would definitely recommend a Scosche kit, they are really nice if you're planning on getting a double-din, the single din pocket in the Scosche kit doesn't look right for some reason.
As far as the Clarion and Eclipse units, The best thing Clarion and Eclipse have going is the audio adjustment capabilities. They usually come with a 12 band EQ with crossover adjustment per band, and 4V pre-outs for starters, these are also on most base models. But just like Alpine, their sound is incredible, but that is about it. The control is confusing/frustrating, there are menu's within menu's within menu's, and not to mention Tom-Tom does the Nav. software for Eclipse
Now don't get me wrong, Tom-Tom is an O.K. GPS, and definitely worth the very little money they are, but you always get what you pay for. If you hold a 199$ Garmin Nuvi 205 next to a 199$ Tom-Tom 130s. You will $hit in your slacks at the difference in quality of software/maps/user friendliness/etc...
Sorry for the rant, hope this helps.

Oh, and forgot about this, yes it will work, but you need to get a part, its a peripheral piece, steering wheel interface for a sony/pioneer headunit. You can find it on http://www.crutchfield.com

if you google avic z3 theres a shop that sells it for 1029 i think or something like that, i went cheap and bought a used one for 450 for a avid d3 with bluetooth module and ipod cable.
I am about to install the z2 I had in my Scion xD into the SI.
My cousin who also had a SI of same year claims that the sub and everything else will give me trouble with a aftermarket radio. Any truth to this at all? If so...whats the fix?
