Hello All

I am new to the forums... just picked up a 91 si for the winter... black 2 door hatch, 5 speed, 356000 kms. i have to fix a couple of things, i hope i can find some answers here..

here it goes.....

1st problem... when i go to start the car in the morning, i have to prime the engine exactly 10 times before it will start... it has gotten gradually worse from a couple of months ago... i only had to prime it 3 times, not its gotten to 10. Fuel Pump?

2nd problem... when driving the car at low rpm, it drives beautifully... but as soon as i push it, like when i get onto the hwy... as soon as i hit around 4 - 5 k rpm, it suddenly dies out and starts to slow down. I get off the throttle, let the rpm drop and it will drive good again until i try to get it past 4 - 5 rpm. Fuel pump? bad cat?

any help is greatly appreciated.. thanks in advance.

sounds like a plugged up fuel filter also has the timing belt been changed recently??

 

yes the fuel filter is relativley new... no timing has not been done in a while...

someone also thinks its a plugged cat...
