squeaky noise...HELP!
I got an 06 si coupe. 17k miles.
Whenever I engage the clutch slowly in 1st gear without giving it a gas...I would hear squeaky noise (high pitched). Dealership is blaming it on my tanabe exhaust saying it's coming from bad seal on the exhaust. However, to me it doesn't sound like gas leaking sound. Could it be? I torqued it down to whatever tanabe's spec was. Anyone else had a similar issue? HELP!

I wouldnt doubt if it was your clutch, Ive heard a few times where the same thing was happening. Dealer will always blame aftermarket parts even when it makes no sense. I mean, a high pitched squeak and they blame it on the exhaust even though your depressing the clutch? Anyway, take your exhaust off if you can and take it to another dealer. Then if it is the exhaust you will know and if it isnt you can take it to the dealer

A quick way to tell would be to put some soap and water in a spray bottle and spray it on the section the SUSPECT is leaking. If it bubbles, which I doubt it is, then the exhaust has a leak there. I would imagine that it is your clutch, personally, however, I cant be sure 100%. If it is your exhaust leaking tho, it will not hurt to overtorque it by 10-15% the prescribed torque. You must remember though, that every time you put the exhaust on after that, you must torque it to AT LEAST what you torque it to this time.
