burning oil
i have noticed that my 98 lx burns a good ammount of oil. the thing is that in my old civic i could smell the burnt oil but in the accord i cant smell it nor can i see any blue smoke comming out of the exaust, i just find the black burnt oil "dust" all over my bumper. it only has 114000 miles on it and i got it from a 40 year old woman so im assuming she didint beat on the car. did a compression test and was around 180 for all cylinder so it cant be the rings right? any idea on what it could be? also herd that if your car burns oil and you run full synthetic it wont burn any or little to none oil? any truth to this?

That's a short post!
Have you any oil leaks? "Black dust" sounds more like a symptom of running rich than burning oil.
If you are burning oil then it can come from either poor oil ring sealing or from worn valve guides / valve stems, or valve guide seals...

no
check for leaks!
no
check for leaks!
As for the last part of your post about if you change to synthetic it won't burn any oil in my opinion is false. First of all if it's burning oil there is a reason, and I assure you it is not the oil your using. That said I've always been told on higher mileage cars you are much better off with a dino oil as opposesed to synthetic simply because the synth is more "slippery" and more likely to expose any faulty or worn seals or rings on a high mileage car. All 3 of my hondas(d16z6, f22, and b18c) are over 190k except the gsr which is probably around 100k are high mileage and I only run good old 5w-30 with no oil burning issues. My advice is save your money and use dino and find the real leak or if your burning oil check your rings or valve seals.

This man speaks the truth
I swapped a ZC into my Civic with less than 30K on it. I used 5W30 for one oil change. Before 1K miles were over I had burned 1qt, switched back to Mobil 1 and it never burned again.
