Default quick turbo question

can you just drop a turbo in a car and get it tuned?

or do you need other stuff like low pressure pistons etc...

and if you do need these other items can i get a list of the items needed?

If you have a D series motor and are staying under 200-220bhp than you should be fine on stock internals. Compression should be fine for pump gas too.

PS: That's assuming a good tune - if it's a bad tune it's obviously nowhere near as stable.

Sure you can, just have extra money that runs deep for tuning. Do some research on the motor you'll be boosting, see people are boosting for the purpose they are using it for.

Get a compression test to see if the motor is healthy and what not. Things like that will snowball and eventually you'll be getting to it.

I don't know about other motors, but I know you can drop a turbo in on a D series. I dropped a T3/T4 turbo in on my Y8, and it runs great on stock internals. I'm only running 7lbs of boost though. I wouldn't run more than 8lbs of boost on stock internals. When I put the turbo in, I did also get bigger injectors though. And you do need to tunee your ECU. I had mine tuned with CHROME. And you do also need to run 92 octane or higher fuel.
