Default hytech header question

im about to purchase a hytech header and i was wondering if i should just go with the standard tubing which is:

Primary Tubes = 42.3mm to 44.3mm to 47.8 mm 4-2 collector = 47.8mm 2-1 collector = 50.8mm Outlet = 65mm (2.5inch)

or for an additional $50 big tubes
Primary Tubes = 44.5mm to 48mm to 50.8 mm 4-2 collector = 50.8mm 2-1 collector = 54.0mm Outlet = 65mm (2.5inch)

im planning to stay all motor and just want the best numbers for basic bolt ons and a mild tune. what benefit/disadvantage would bigger tubes be and would it hurt flow or backpressure?

The big tube made less power EVERYWHERE in my powerband below 7500 than my comptech header. Go with the regular tube, I have a 12:1, 1.9 litre ls/vtec and I wish I had gone with the small tube....

Just to be correct, these are not Hytech headers, unless you are getting them from John.

There are always a lot of header questions in here and I have never seen anyone make the suggestion to ask someone like Burns. For $75 you can send Burns your engine specifications and they will tell you exactly how to build your header with part numbers and all. Even if you don't purchase anything from them, you get the data which is worth far more than $75. If you do buy a collector or parts from them, they give you the $75 towards your stuff.

Or you can just ask John since you are buying a header from him. He knows exactly what you need.

Dont get the counterfeit versions on ebay. If your going for a mild tune then standard is the way to go. Some headwork should really compliment your new higher flowing headers.

The Hytech is longer than a stock header, so using it together with a stock cat and cat-back won't work. But you may get it to fit by having a short test pipe made.
