Default Peakboost Powered RSX

Well, first off, some of you guys may have seen some of my old threads on my turbo build. This is the second setup that I had acquired. The first one was just a modified Revhard setup and I was not satisfied with it so I contacted Ken @ Peakboost and had them build a kit for the RSX. I in turn received the first ever production kit for the RSX.
I waited awhile to install the kit because I decided to go a bit more extreme than I originally planned to. So now over a year later and over $12k lighter the build is done. I do have more tuning and a few things that I have to change out but that is the easy part.

Now to what I actually have done:

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">
Peakboost Turbo kit
Here is a breakdown of the kit:
T3/44 Sidemount stainless steel Turbo Manifold (Coated by HPC)
44mm Dumptube (Coated by HPC)
3" Stainless 2 pc downpipe w v-band (Coated by HPC)
Garrett GT3076 turbo (.82 AR, .60trim, S-cover)(Exhaust housing Coated by HPC)
Tial 44mm Wastegate
Tial 50mm Blow off valve
PWR 6" x 23.5" x 3" vertical flow intercooler core(total height is 12") (anodized black)
2.5" Aluminum chargepipe kit with PWR Silicon Couplers & t-bolt clamps (Piping powder coated black)
Steel braided oil/feed return lines
All installation hardware, gaskets, & heatwrap
K&N Intake filter

Besides these parts that came with the kit I am going to be running the following:

Hondata Kpro
GM 3bar map sensor
GM boost control solenoid
Peakboost Vac Block
Billet battery tray
Odyssey battery
Innovative Motor Mounts
CC stage 4 clutch
Oil sandwich plate adapter
hondata intake manifold gasket
Thermal 3" exhaust
NKG BKR9EIX plugs
Walbro intank pump
AEM fuel rail
Aeromotive FPR
RC 750cc injectors
-8an stainless fuel feed lines & -6an return lines all with Earls & Russel fittings
Aeromotive 10 micron inline fuel filter
RBC intake manifold
Hondawerx RBC adapter

I know that I am forgetting some of the other stuff but this is what I remember off the top of my head.

</TD></TR></TABLE>

Here are the picture trail of the project:

beginning the install

Day 1 teardown

Fuel system:

heat wrapping, relocating & prepping engine bay

Then after I did this Ken at peakboost called me up and wanted me to run the newer style turbo manifold, down pipe and dump tube. I was about to leave for Europe for school for 6 weeks so I knew I didn't need my car for awhile so I said sure. So he made everything new for me and when I got back from Europe I had this on my door step:

If you notice, the wastegate is no longer at the top of the manifold and the down pipe had more clearance which gave a much better fit.

here is it installed

The finished product of everything together:

The car was Tuned by Jason (aka. St00pid) of Fastlane in Houston.

The car only spent 1 hr on the dyno and needs to go back for alot more tuning. The car is running 400whp @ 280ft/lbs @ 15psi on pump for now. I am going back soon for another 4hrs of tunning when Jason re-opens his shop. We didn't have time on the dyno to lock down the cams and tune for power. We only had enough time to dial in for fuel & boost control really. If you look at the dyno sheet the pull that only shows 352whp was when the car came unstrapped from the dyno in mid pull so the run was cut short. The power was really climbing on that run too. I maxed out my fuel system at 400whp though (or so I thought, ends up we just had the fuel pressure set wrong at 40psi instead of 54psi).

Here is the dyno sheet and a couple of vids

Looks real clean and slick...but need more torque! I understand H/A motors are not torque monsters, but I'd tune it to run at least 300wt and whatever hp that gets me.

The car is only running off of a partially tuned base map. I need another 4 hrs of dyno time. I only had enough time for an hr. of tuning the first time I went. Due to scheduling etc.

The car has been running really well though so I can wait until my tuner finishes building his new shop which will be up and running in about a month and a half then I am going to go and re-dyno the car. This time I am looking for at least 340ft/lbs of torque and about 450whp on pump.

We only got to tune for A/F and boost when I put the car on the dyno. We never locked down the cams and tuned for power at all. This car has so much left in it. I am also going to have a beefed up fuel system before I go back for tunning

damn, all on stock internals? those are some nice numbers. Cool where the manifold drops to the turbo, i guess the only downside i see with the way our engines are mounted is the longer intercooler piping needed but i see it had 0 effect on the numbers :-D. Super cool setup

Actually, the numbers are lower than they should be for my setup. I am only running a basemap right now. The numbers should be going up and the boost required to get there should be going down. Right now I am making 400whp & 280ft/lbs of torque @ 15psi. After tuning we are expecting 425-450whp & mid 300ft/lbs @ 10-12psi.

Also, the charge piping is extremely short. If you look at the way the intercooler piping is ran and the way the exhaust and intake manifold are setup on this car the intercooler piping is far shorter than any of the piping that I have seen on a b-series kit. The intercooler is also a vertical feed core rated at 800whp so it really shortens the charge piping required for the car. Here is a picture of the intercooler setup outside of the car just mocked up in my living room. Here you can see how short the piping actually is

Thanks guys. She is in pieces right now though

I blew the tranny so I decided that I was going to do another DIY project. I pulled the tranny, got another 06' Gear set and swapped out the final drive from a 4.79 to a 4.3 Final drive, replaced the stock 6th gear with a TSX 6th gear and added a quaife LSD along with new bearings and syncrhos in the entire transmission.

I also was changing a few things out, added a AEM Eugo wideband (wired into kpro for datalogging), added a high/low boost switch, changed to another CC Stage 4 clutch, new wheel bearings, new throw out bearing, new tires, new brakes, new boost control solenoid (switched from the GM solenoid to the Hondata solenoid).

All was fine until I am starting to get some electrical problems which I have not had time to finish trouble shooting yet. I need to start working on the car again but I just haven't had the time too. I work way too many hours and then I work 160 miles away so I spend all my time at work or on the hwy. I am really glad that I have another car to drive while mine is down for repairs.

She should be up and running again soon and I am going to Houston on the 22nd to get re-tuned so I am interested to see how she does.

I haven't updated this thread in a long time.

Decided to do a simple motor build. Going with stock sleeves with a fresh rehone, 86mm Wiseco pistons (9:1 compression), updated Eagle Rods with upgraded ARP rod bolts, fresh OEM bearings, new oem head gasket, arp head studs and I may be to the head if I have some cash left over for the valvetrain. I am having the motor built by Chris so whenever I have a chance to drive to Houston and meet up with him the build will begin.

Its not going to be a huge HP setup but it should be good for a good 600whp or so, afterall this is my daily and not a track *****. I jumped on this because I got the stuff at a good price that I couldn't refuse.

I probably wont install the motor for awhile because the next few months are so jamb packed with crap to do and I am going to be leaving awhile for my little sisters wedding in Hawaii.

I probably will wait till the summer to actually drop the motor in. Maybe by then I can get my hands on a better gear set. Gear-x is currently talking to me about testing out a new straight cut 1-4 synchro set for our transmission so I will see what happens with that.

lol, compared to alot of guys I know that is a lower HP setup. I am already running 450whp on a stock motor. I know guys running over 650whp on a bone stock motor and I have freinds locally who have 850+whp setups on their built motors and there are a few that have broke the 1000whp mark with these engines.

Very nice Archull. I love seeing the updates on your ride. I am getting a Precision SC6265 rebuilt and still need to get a DP fabricated and a wastegate. How did you like the car with the 450whp setup? Still decent on the street?

Very well done. Do you have a link to HPC so I can look into pricing? I'm going to do the same thing with my SC6262 that I'm going to roll with.
