ADVICE PLEASE 2 rebuild or not 2 rebuild
Wats goin on everyone. recently my y8 was in need of a distributor. so me being cheap went on ebay and purchased one from ebay. Brand new for 150. Well after having my buddy who is a "mechanic" put it on for me. upon trying to crank, a loud whining noise occured. I pulled off the dizz, and the two small teath which go into the motor were snapped clean off in the area where they fit into. When my "mechanic" went to grab them out, one fell down into the head right into the oil. Now my question is, will rebuilding my motor get this small piece of metal out ? the car never ran with the motor inside the block, because they were stuck in the area which they fit in. Will rebuilding cost more then just getting a new single cam ? CAN SOMEONNE HELLLLPP ME I NEEED MY CAR TO GO TO WORK
i pulled of the valve cover.... it is in the area where the dizzy goes so there is no way to get ur hand ther to see if i can fish it out... will the metal fall down into the pan with out any help ? i guess what i mean is, is there anything that would stop it from falling alll the way down into the pan ?.. will adding oill and leaving the drain bolt open eventuallyy flush the piece oout ?

put a magnet on what left of the broken part of the dizzy. if the magnet pulls it then use one of these:

will adding oil and leaving the drain bolt open eventually flush out the piece ? is there anything that would not let the small peice of metal just come out ? could it get into the filter ? i know im probably sounding stupid, but i need my car soon, and if i can do it myself it would be great.
it fell theoretically in the oil wher the valvetrain is, right under the dizzy, i cant get my finger into the area where it is at. how much would be a reasonable price to fix this prob
