Hi guys
I know this might sound like a noob question - but here goes
I am planning to build a turbo LS/Vtec for my street/strip orientated Civic. I will probably be making around 400whp at this stage (more later on) and I've got an LS transmission for the car.
My question is the following:
1) Can you interchange gears between the B16A (S4C) tranny and the LS tranny.
ie 2nd and 3rd
OR
2) Are there companies that make Final Drive's for the LS tranny - im looking for a higher final drive ratio
I am basically trying to find a sollution to using the LS tranny but getting the gear ratios closer to the GSR or B16A specs - to improve acceleration and prevent boost drop off between 1st and 2nd gear !!
All your help will be appreciated

i have a LS/Vtec turbo charged set up.
My tranny has the following gears, and it works great.
1st gear - GSR/LS
2nd gear - GSR/LS
3rd gear - B16/ITR
4th gear - B16/ITR
5th gear - LS
Final drive 4.400 with JDM 98 spec R LSD
Perfect for a daily driven. The 5th gear helps save your turbo

Thanx for the reply, so will the B16A (S4C) gears fit onto the LS main shaft or do I need to swap the main shafts between the the two transmissions ?
What im actually asking is: What exactly does it entail to do the gear swaps ??

Side by side comparison, b16 and LS mainshaft are the same.
You can use either one, which ever one looks less beat up.
Yes they are swap-able.
Jux keep in mind that OBD0 B-series trannies is not compatible with OBD1 and OBD2. But OBD1 and OBD2 B-series trannies are.
As for countershaft, it depends on what final drive ratio you want.
4.400 = B16 final ring gear + b16 conuntershaft
4.266 = LS final ring gear + LS counter shaft
*B16 final ring gear will NOT work with LS countershaft
*LS final ring gear will NOT work with B16 countershaft
Good luck

I have Three transmissions at my dispossal currently and I am trying to build a hybrid set-up.Want the acceleration of a ITR but the top end of and LS or GS-R. What combo's are ideal for 170MPH reliable top end naturally aspirated raping status.
If you want to do the FD swap, you'll need the B16 ring gear with B16 countershaft. You can also use the GSR/ITR ring gear pieces, but you'll need the larger diff to go along with it.
