Default I'm a noob

Just bought my first CRX. 89, D16A6... dont know much about the D series, other than they can take a f@#$%ing beating! i got a short cold air and header/exhaust, short throw... pretty normal stuff.. whats my next best move? i got a set of rims on the way to replace the stock steels \m/ wrapping them with kumho ectsa 205/40r17.

as it is, this car is a brutal change for me.. i've got a chevelle, done camaros, trucks, and an integra.. so this car feels like a go-cart haha.. pictures coming soon but it is not too far off of Kentucky Blue, so, all the honda guys are calling it the "Mario Kart".

my goal is to have a very badass mario kart. i just need help and advice.

First off, try this link to answer any of your questions...

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread/1508680

In my opinion the 17s are to big for your badass mario cart. Try looking inot some 15s or 16s..

Also check the picture thread.

Suspension upgrades would be your best next move. At least IMO.

well for me personally i like 15's, but thats just me. the crx 90-91 swirlies are my fav.

but like redline says, check out your suspension cuz im sure you'll need some sort of upgrade if you are taking it to the track.

thanks ppl, I talked to the old owner.. he had some coilovers that he bought off ebay, didnt know the company but he gave them to me. i'll try them out and see if they're any count. no name printed or stamped or stickered.. but they're red? lol...

somebody asked if the car was street or strip only.. and well its my daily driver m-f 7am-7pm, but on the weekends i want to be able to take it out and get some track time on it. (as is: long way from track ready.)

i second that. go with a set of factory alloys to start. 17s look like dubs on ef's. even sedans dont look good with 17s. try a set of bushings to start with and if you nee a firmer ride, start looking at your "minor" suspension bits. control arms, camber adjusters, tie bars,(useless) strut tower braces and then shoot for the suspension. you'll like how it rides if you upgrade the suspension little by little instead of putting in a set of coilovers and super harsh shocks. imo, may not feel to great after DD for a month. swaps are fun and all, just know what ur goin for before hand. zc and b16 imo are ur 2 best bets.

i agree. ZC is a pretty strait forward swap too. Just have to change out one plug and get a different ecu. very fun though. i had one.

LOL, thanks guys, but the 17 was a typo, i have 16's, got a hell of a deal of them, couldn't pass.. also i put new bushings on the car first off (the originals weren't looking so hot). after gettin around in this thing for a couple days now i think i'm going to hang on to the d16.. drive it till it drops i guess! after talkin with some people and doing some research i agree thapimpfromchi - a ZC swap would be a really good way to go.

iceman: im shooting for a quick DD, obviously.

throw some Ds on it

Have you thought about maybe camming the a6 it's a stout motor?

Really before you do one mod start to honestly plan out what do you want and don't lie to your self or you'll just end up unhappy.

Best of luck

actually i have definitely thought about camming it... thought i might want to go that route and seeing how it goes before i do a full blown swap... but at the same time budget dictates that i get a plan and stick to it, lol
