Help!!!!.....white smoke won't go away.
i have a 94 integra turbo, just recently white smokes starts to come out of the exhaust. I know that is coolant, i just bought a new head gasket and changed it. Let it run for a few minutes to burn the access coolant. But the problem is it is still coming out after hours. Can someone help me or give me some advice on what to do. I'm at a complete lost here.
white smoke means you are burning coolant. my guess is the head gasket didn't seal. did you check the head and block with a straightedge? next did you remove water and debris from the head bolt holes before torquing them down? lastly did you buy a quality headgasket for your specific engine?
yeah i bought the right head gasket and clean the surface of the head and block...the only thing that i havn't done is check if the head and blocks surface to see if it is level. But if it is warp wouldn't the engine start to idle....my perfermance mechanic told me to torque the arp head stud for my ls at 70lb or torque on a stock head gasket. Do you think that would have cause the gasket to leak. Cause the factory spec torque is 62lb. please let me know cuzz i just got it dyno and i really want my moneys worth of it. Thanks
Did you torque it in sequence? There's a pattern that you have to follow, and you have to torque every one to one spec... once you finish, you move up to final spec. But
to you, for not checking the head to see if it was level. That's most likely you're problem. Why did you replace it in the first place. Did it overheat prior to this?

i torque them 70lbs and yes i did torque them in sequence....as the haynes manual book says.....i'll check the injector cause i have 550cc on it. I had 310cc before and it did not smoke until 2 or 3 months later, but it doesn't smoke constantly only for a while then it stops (with 310 injector). My car has never overheat before, i replace the head gasket cause it was smoking. i thought head gasket was my problem so thats why i replaced it. But now its even worse then before. Oh and how does the injector cause my engine to produce white smoke, i've never heard this before.

Definately check your compression, and perform a leak down test. It's not smoking right when you start up the car in fairly cold weather right? I noticed how you said it smokes for a while and then it stops.
i know that leak down test tells me that my piston rings and valves are no good right....what else does it tell me besides that....i did a compression test and all pistons are good, so are the valves.....My car starts up easily like any normal working car, but i doesn't start smoking when the car starts to get hot and when you full throttle. somehow coolant is getting to the pistons, but i don't know how. Im gonna do another head gasket change and check the head and block surface to see if its level...i'll give you guys an update to see what happens. Thanks alot for all your guys help.....if you still have some more ideas of the cause feel free to throw your suggestions at me.
I swap a new head and wait about almost an hour before the white smoke is gone...i took the car for a test drive and floored 2nd gear. Came back and the white smoke no longer shows its face. But when i turn off the car and turn it back on a few minutes later the white smokes comes back....i'm out of ideas now, if you guys have any more clues please let me know.
you sure it's white smoke and not blue smoke?
sounds like either the piston rings or the turbo seals are shot. if it was coolant being burnt it would be constantly overheating.
recently my turbo seals took a dump on me and it was blowing out bluish/white smoke. replaced the turbo.....smoke gone....

Coolant in the cylinders will "wash" the tops of the pistons. So you would have a few black carboned up pistons and a shiney piston top yo uknow which cyl. is leakin. Get your block deck and head deck checked for warpage and check for cracks. Your turbo cooled with coolant?? Could have faulty seals...
could be from watered down gas....
drain your tank and gas up with some from a good gas station....
saw this happen to a guy after he just filled up his ITR eg hatch..it kept smoking on him and even started to kill on him if dropped below 2k rpm

I'd swapped in a new turbo and no more smoke, i let the engine idle for a go 20min and still no smoke. Took it for a test drive, the new turbo's awesome....no smoke. So i took the turbo that i had in the car when this problem occur to the shop, they said that i had a broken seal for the exhaust side of the turbo. Which is true, cause there were alot of oil in my downpipe when i took it out.....Thanks everybody for the help, I appreciated very much.
