Yes every Honda motor is an Interference motor. If the timing belt breaks you're screwed.

Thats what I thought. My mom wants to wait till she hits 107,000mi before she has the timing belt changed. its at 90,000 right now and I wanted to go adhead and do it now but Honda told her to wait till 107k miles... prob so the belt will break and they'll have more to fix and charge her for..

I think it's 7 years or 70k miles roughly. Obviously you could wait a bit longer but better safe than sorry. So if it's ~7 years old I'd do it regardless

I always thought it was 90,000. I dont know for sure what Honda originally said. I really think its odd that the dealership is now saying 107k?! wtf where did that random number come from?

Probably checked it out and didn't see a lot of wear on it or something - can't tell ya haha, and the more I think about it I think that is what it is - 7 years or 90k miles.

My 02 manual says 105k. I did mine at 94.8k tho, since it was summer and I had the time.

Stolen from the ITR forum, but most likely similar enough:

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Yeah, how come nobody actually bothers to look it up? It's in the service manual as well as the owner's manual. Of course, you can do it before the recommended interval, or after the recommended interval, or even not at all - it's your car - but it's useful to know what Honda recommends. Want to know what is recommended in the manuals?

'94 USIM Integra Service Manual (covers '97 ITR) says 90K miles or 6 years, whichever comes first. No difference for severe conditions.

'98 USIM Integra Service Manual (covers '98-01 ITR) says 105K miles or 7 years, whichever comes first. It also says 60K miles if the vehicle is regularly driven at temperatures over 110 degrees F or under -20 degrees F.</TD></TR></TABLE>
