Default Got rear ended on my RC51, lucky to be alive... 56k (7 pics)

Hey guys I got into a pretty crazy accident yesterday. Needless to say, I very shaken up but the worst injuries were some bruises and scratches on my legs.

I was riding down a street and preparing to make a left turn. Signal on, on the brakes, everything was good. I put my attention to the oncoming traffic when i heard and felt a loud boom. Suddenly I feel like I am flying in the air. Next thing I know, I am rolling on the ground and see my bike push me out of the way of this Toyota Highlander as the Toyota Highlander climbs on top of it.

Witnesses say she was doing about 50 and I was almost stopped.

All of the sudden, I am on my feet stumbling (my only thought at this point was WHAT THE F**K), as I am stumbling I watch the car basically slide on top of my bike to a stop almost 100 feet away. I was unable to support my own weight with my legs and collapsed. Moments later a bunch of people were around me asking me questions to make sure I was okay. I had lower back, left hip and right knee pain. I was perfectly coherent though and remembered every single detail. I was told to stay still until an ambulance came and put me on a stretcher.

Everyone who helped me was incredibly nice and 2 witnesses slipped business cards into my backpack as I was getting carried away. I was taken to Santa Monica hospital where I was extensively xrayed. All the results came back clean.

Every single medical person I spoke to that day told me I had a guardian angel on my side and I am incredibly lucky nothing broke let alone the fact that I am alive. It could have been me instead of the RC under the car.

I stayed in the hospital for 6 hours, the whole time with a neckbrace and IV in my arm. They finally discharged me at 6pm yesterday.

Yesterday was incredibly painful seeing as how it took me forever to walk everywhere and get in and out of bed. However today I am feeling significantly better and I am very happy about it.

I am sure a lot of you are curious about this. I always am when I see these stories.
[/b]I was almost completely geared up.[/b]
Every single piece of gear did its job perfectly. The sidi doha boots barely have a scratch on them. The held phantoms are fine but scratched up. My dainese jacket has a few scuffs on it, the chin bar on my shoei helmet shows a scratch.
Since I was wearing jeans with no armor under it, my legs were vulnerable. My right knee hurt pretty bad. I normally wear bohn adventure shorts but I decided not to because that day. Had I been wearing them there is a good chance id have no hip pain.

The moral of the story is WEAR YOUR DAMN GEAR! This situation could have been infinitely worse for me and I consider myself incredibly lucky. I even bought lottery tickets today

I know you guys want pics so here they are. I went to the tow yard to see my bike today and the guy who took me to see it was the same guy who picked up my bike from the scene. He was shocked I was alive because I had left by the time he got there and he figured since the bike was under the car the accident was fatal. He also said his boss looked at my tires and said "whoever had this bike really knew how to ride"

Here is how the bike looked the week I got it

and here is how it sat today at the tow yard.

Needless to say, I am going to be taking a short break from riding. Im taking this whole thing as a blessing. I also get the bonus of walking with a gangsta gangsta limp for a few days.

Never know though, might use the money to get an 08 1krr or 09 R1

realistically youll see me track only from now on though, you really never know at this point.

WOW.

Even I'm grateful to hear you made it out okay.

The fact that you were airborne to 'safety'......was better than nothing.

I was reconsidering of riding on the public roadways....as for the track, it would seem more suitable and no crazy drivers.

Good to hear you made it out of there in one piece.....Heal up!

So I can see pics of the 1000RR or R1!

Lol i gave up on that jacket but I still had my dainese shard jacket.

Realistically I want another RC, I found no flaws with that bike.

The highlander hit me, the police officer said she was kind of an airhead and said she thought she was in the other lane. dont even get me started.. sigh

bs financial crisis. i take my economic advice from carlos mancia. when the mexicans stop hopping the border for jobs, THEN ill worry about the economy. if anything, now is when you should buy stocks etc. cause everyone is freaking out and selling low. as for bikes, who knows, maybe somebody had a lot of stock in aig and now needs to let their bike go for next to nothing to regain. either way, glad to see your not giving up on the sport.

Damn bro! You definitely had someone looking out for you that day. Glad to hear you made it through unscathed - that's some scary ****.

You just got this RC, right? This was the one you traded your SV (or F4i...?) for? Bikes are all replaceable - people are not.

So be sure to shoot the Highlander driver.

Glad to hear your spine is OK, you're super lucky after taking a rear-end like that. Take your time getting back on the horse, but i"m betting you'll be out there before too long. My accident, though not as bad as yours, made me reconsider where I ride. Maybe it's time for some track action

yep i traded the sv for it on july 1st. put about 4000 personal miles on it before this happened. do you know any good lawyers who deal with stuff like this for a reasonable cut? I really would like to get as much as possible for this. She took away my pride and joy.

yea no dumbasses in suvs and minivans on the track... i think it may be the only place i ride from now on

i know its going to be really hard for me to ride on the street without being really paranoid about what is going on behind me.

Glad to hear you're ok and nothing major happened man. We all know the inherent dangers of this sport, but we seem to forget them until "it" happens. Hope to see you soon back on the saddle

Sue that m'fin bitch!!!! Take her SUV from her so that no more people will be at risk

If there's one thing I worry about more than poeople turning in front of me, its getting rear ended. I generally cover the rear, but when your about to make a turn, its not really possible. Hope you get what they bike is worth.

**** looking at it now I hope your medical insurance is good. Ambulance rides aint cheap. Considering what happened your bills could be alot worse.

thats a funny story actually

my medical insurance expires in like 2 weeks

the school medical insurance expires on sunday

so if there is a "perfect time" to have a motorcycle accident it would have been this week

go figure

i dont know if that is necessary, i mean it isnt completely her fault. u just dont realize how distracting the new britany spears cd is until u have it blasting through the 8 speakers in your brand new highlander. and besides, she's just trying to become a famous drunken *****. cant blame a girl for trying to move up in life. you just cant be a rich whorish bitch like lindsay lohan, paris hilton, or brit spears unless u plow through some poor shlub minding his own business.

if you decide not to take it to court, i say get the name and plate number from the police report, find the address, go there at night and drain the oil i always thought that would be perfect means for revenge but havent hated anyone yet to do it.

I went through about a month where I was riding without insurance. Its not desirable, but nothing happen. I had to pay for my own insurance for awhile, then got insurance thru my job. Hopefully you don't need any follow up.

my little bro got paid out $80k for a accident similar to your. Similar being that the driver was an idiot and the bike got totaled. Busted ankle, ambulance ride, 24 hours in the hospital. Push hard, get a good lawyer and take all you can get. You deserve every penny for BS like this.

Oh yeah, now he's got a Street triple for the street and a 636 for the track.
