5th gen prelude tranny swaps on a F-series??? what exactly is diff about the SH tranny...
Already searched for 'Tranny', didnt come up w/ too much info.
Well, in my quest for a replacement tranny for the POS one thats dying on me, I'm considering the 5th gen prelude ones because they generally have lower mileage at the junkyards.
My question is, what exactly makes the SH tranny different from the base model (i dont mean the differntial/ATTS, curious about things like axles, mounts, etc)? And would the 5th gen base/non-SH tranny bolt right up to a 5th gen F-series? Never seen anyone ask that question yet, everyone looks for a 4th gen lude tranny.
Also..... does anyone know the tranny codes for each of the following transmissions
USDM H23A1
USDM H22A1
USDM H22A4 Standard
USDM H22A4 SH trim
JDM H22A (umm the equivalent one to the USDM h22a1)

bump, anyone know if the 5th gen base tranny will bolt up to a 5th gen accord? Gonna hit the junkyards this week.
the base tranny will bolt up
it has a better 5th for higher top speed and better highway milage
it has a better 5th for higher top speed and better highway milage
The 4th gen tranny is better (shorter ratios). The SH will not bolt up. Nuff said.
and about the SH, i heard a rumor somewhere, that someone rigged up ATTS on a swapped H22A4, not an accord, but I heard it somewehre. Just wondering which particular parts other than the differential are diff between the SH and base tranny.

what do you know about the shifter cables between the 5th gen accord, 4th gen prelude, and 5th gen prelude? are there any differences among the cables? any particular ones better than another when swapping a lude tranny into an accord?
There's quite a bit of play in my cables, which results in the play in the shifter when in gear. I'm able to move the shifter a bit in any diretion while in gear, causing it to vibrate. If I am to get a 5th gen lude tranny, which shifter cables (among the 3 listed)can be used to replace my crappy ones?

4th and 5th gen accord's and 4th gen prelude cables are the same...
5th gen lude cables would not be the best idea
