Sure you can lol. Don't know if you'll be gaining any power or anything, but yea I'm sure you can. Probably with some minor tweaks/upgrades.

I think a Type R manifold would be a ton cheaper in parts and tuning. You can just slap on ITBs, but from what I've heard they take a lot of tweaking to get running right. Or you can just slap on a Type R manifold and be done with it.

I really don't understand what the problem is with the gsr manifold though, unless you like having less low end.

spending an *** load for ITB's and slapping them onto a stock or near stock GSR motor will be pointless.

thanks guys for the input...so from what people are saying now its not really a good idea to put itbs on just yet. just go with a simple intake manifold.

if you really wanna change out the manifold, i'd suggest the skunk 2 manifold.

but then again, it'd kinda be pointless with a stock motor. unless you plan on building it.

for example, like putting in cams, pistons, etc...

The ITR manifold uses a slightly different bolt pattern than the GSR manifold. The GSR manifold is actually quite good all things considered. You can go to a manifold similar to the ITR, but designed for the GSR head (Skunk2, Blox, etc), however it's likely to cause a performance decrease without supporting mods and tuning.

Regarding ITB's, the rule of thumb is that if you have to ask, you aren't ready for them. They can work well on a "relatively" stock motor (at least cams and a damn good header/exhaust), presuming they're sized correctly, but it doesn't make the tuning any easier.

Not really, some guys on NASIOC are doing some custom ITB/Manifold setups for their turbo'd motors lol. Costs a [freak] bunch of money according to them. They're trying to make something similar to the JUN setup is all.

I hope you mean an aftermarket Type R style manifold, and I'm sure you don't.

OE R manifolds can only be "slapped on" P30 or PR3 heads, mang.

thats kewl. seems like it defeats the purpose of the ITB. sure it has throttle bodies but there is a plenum just like a manifold, dont see any benifits to this. interesting

The lack of a plenum isn't necessarily an advantage of an ITB setup. In fact pretty much all stock ITB equipped vehicles run plenums from the factory.

yeah, my bad. Aftermarket then. My point stands that you're generally not going to be slapping on ITBs either.

Isnt that for air filtering purposes?
please explain the advantage of ITBs with boost Im not understanding. throttle response is lost with that much of a plenum isnt it? Boost is bad enough low end, why the ITBs?

thanks
