tad under 3..and feather it...because it'll still break traction...

depends on where your launching at.
street i would say around 3-ish
the track, i use the burnout box and use launch control on the line.

Nope, thats the right RPM to shift if you want a good run. Otherwise your just spining your tires and no traction = no good.

Well, I would wait atleast another 3 to 4 k to start beating on it. But you are gonna get mixed responses since some v-takked straight of the lot when others waited 6 or more k. Most of the time I hear no bad responses from beating on it but I would advise against it. Then theres the rattling, I know some civics have problems with rattling and my suggestion is to take it to the dealer.

One more thing to remember is every over rev is logged in your ECU so you might not want to try to get to the 9k like some retards.

NO, once again you've provided useless information...I'd SERIOUSLY, like to see you dump the clutch and launch without spinning at almost 5k...thats way too high for any surface...

NO, its already been covered well in depth that such "break-in" procedures are useless, only way to break in an engine is to drive it HARD!...link on PROPER break-in procedures http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm

And most of all don't be scared of taking your car to the track, seriously my Si saw the track the first weekend it was home and that was WELL under a 1000 miles ..in fact i think it was still around 600'ish and i def. red-lined, bounced on and off the rev-limiter at times but don't be scared ..you're not damaging the motor/engine in any way...and most of all don't listen to half these idiots on this board

While I think burnout box is completely useless, and possibly makes things worse.... When my car was stock my best run was when i launched at 5k and dumped the clutch. Did i spin? Hell yes....I don't remember what I ran, its been 2 years....and I haven't been since...

You seem like you know everything, why go to 9 when power ends before that? When the light stops blinking is the ideal time to shift. But go ahead and listen to "pred" he's the real genious. NOt like half the idiots on here

I love how the topic states how controversial the topic is. That proves nothing, just becuase joe schmo says to beat on your engine you find that credible? I said that your gonna get mixed responses telling him I never heard anything bad about beating on it off the lot. Who am I to say whats right and wrong which is why I gave both sides I never said to do this or do that, simply giving information I felt would help the OP.

LMAO listen to pred though take that baby to 9k, shoot that that beast to 9.5 and bouce that needle like a black girl at an *** shaking contest.

Huh thats funny. what was your time bouncing off the nutral limitor? also what tires did you have if stock then your killing your 60ft. Tonight i ran at the track and launched at 3k-3250 and i hit a 14.4. ill have the vid posted up tomm. its kool to launch at the limitor but only when using drag radials.

i was using the launch control. i have the michelin pilots. well i obviously didnt kill my 60ft cuz i was running against another car like mine with the same mod and i had a slower reaction time by .100 and i caught right up off the line and passed him and we ended up running almost exact times at the end but i was ahead maybe a 1/2 car or so.

You shouldn't be dumping the clutch off the line to begin with.

What launch control?

I launch my car at like 4250 ish. Anything less and the car bogs (that why your wheels don't spin morons). Used to launch low, when I first started, and my times were terrible and inconsistent. Now they are fast and very consistent. A little wheelspin is okay, as long as you're moving.

Bouncing off the neutral rev limiter is stupid, because it makes the revs go up and down. If the lights happen to change when the rev limiter is kicking the revs down, you're already gonna start badly.
