Default OMG i almost killed my bike!

We all know the obvious, change your oil, check your tire pressure, were a helmet. what about checking your wheel bearings? in my short life, ive never had a wheel bearing go out on a car, Its just something ive never messed with. well i almost trashed my bike last week from a bad wheel bearing. im riding my bike around as usual tearing nothing welt off or wrong. im living in the UK right now which requires an MOT (safety inspection) once a year. when i took it in on Friday i failed! at first, im pissed because i think the guy is F***ing with me until he shows me. my wheel was about to fall off and i couldn't even tell unless the wheel was off the ground. the bearing was toast! turns out a seal had gone bad and it was filled with water. oh and my bike just hit 10,000 miles. whats your wheel bearing condition?

no this isnt form my bike nor is it from a bike. It may have well been off my bike. it was really bad. the right side was gone and the left rear bearing was barely hanging on

Thank God you're in the UK and they're so strict.

Our state inspections consist of honking the horn, brake pads, and lights. Checking wheel bearings is definitely not on the list.

UK has a very thorough car inspection required once a year, same as Japan but Japan its once every 2 years. In Japan its called the 自動車検査 "ji dou shya ken sa" They take apart your car and inspect the moving mechanics of your car, from brakes, wheels, transmission, lights, and also for any possible illegal modifications.

Since the beginning... I have been spouting off about the importance doing a walk around everytime before riding. I know many of you probably don't bother, but like a aero pilot, I would never throw my leg over a saddle without doing at last a rudimentary walk around... and I mean everytime. I don't care if the bikes been sitting for 15 minutes, I still do it
