Default Honda xr rev limiter

Hi i'm new to this forum... and i'm from Norway so excuse my English

I'm 15 year's old and i bought a Honda xr 125l
When i first got the bike i was happy with it, but soon realized it was very slow uphill...So after some weeks i went and bought my self a new exhaust... well i got some more acceleration. But stil there is that rev limiter... i can do 60km\h on the second gear but then only 70 in third.

My dad say's its probably a rev limiter...Ive searched low and high to get a new cdi unit... the closest i came was a cdi unit for the Honda cg125... It uses the same engine but has a different connector.

So what are my options here? Except swapping the eninge.
Does anyone make custom cdi units or something?

Are you sure it's not restricted? I've seen that in some european countries the law dictates that a bike must be restricted for riders under 18 years old.

I don't think there is a rev limiter as a 125 4 stroke bike should reach at least 100 km/h (60 MPH), if in good condition and an average sized rider.

Is the engine in good condition? Maybe the gearing (sprockets and chain) isn't stock?

No its not restricted anymore after i got a aftermarket exhaust...i can do 90-110km\h in the last gear but its so slow. And since i found a cdi box for the cg which say's "no more early rev limiting" so I'm guessing that my cdi is the problem

Well my friend, that is what a 125 4 stroke dualsport can do. Sorry to dissapoint you but it is really that slow.

My guess is that is about all you are going to get out of that 4 stroke 125. My XR 250 will just dip into the 60mph range in 6th gear. If you really want to pick peoples brains about the XRs check out http://www.thumpertalk.com/forum there is a huge wealth of information there.
