please help, just got motor back in car
okay, first let me tell you the engine i have. its a zc block with a z6 head and p28 pistons. ive had the motor out of the car for about 2 months, i stored it properly by putting stabile engine storage spray in each cylinder, and i also put a cap full of oil in each cylinder prior to the startup. My problem is that the motor has alot of pressure in the valvecover, when i take the hose that leads from the valvecover to the intake off, white smoke puffs out, it never used to do this. Also to make sure all the cylinders were firing i pulled one off at a time to hear the change in the engine note. Cyl 3 hardly changes at all. Im confused because the car still seems to run as strong as it ever has, its consuming alot of oil now though, and possibly coolant, could this be a headgasket? would it cause all the pressure i have in the valvecover?
Perform compression and leakdown tests for all cylinders. The problem will show itself(or at least narrow it down) through these tests.
You could have bad rings on cyl 3 causing cylinder pressure into the crankcase. A headgasket will most likely pressurize the cooling system and if it was bad enough it will cause radiator caps to fail, hoses to blow etc...
Perform the tests and get back to us.

compression is good accross the board, except cyl 3 is 20 psi.... all others are 210, would bad rings cause this big of a compression drop?
so basically it can only be rings, because the weird thing is the motor still rips like it always has, no rough idle or anything, performance feels nearly the same
Head gasket, cylinder walls, rings, cracked head, bent valve in/ex. all will cause low compression, although it does sound like rings. The best way to find out is do a leakdown and narrow down your problem then teardown to determine.

alright thanks alot for your input, im gonig to do a leakdown and hopefully this will determine my problem, i really hope its a headgasket.. ive blown one once before on this setup but i was burning alot more coolant then i am now
