I have a d16y8, and the stock intake used two hoses, one of which I will need to reuse(the one that connects to the valve cover) and the other will not be used. Should I just remove the second hose and leave it unplugged? Or should I find a method to plug those holes in?

The instructions that came with the intake were not too clear. By the way, it's the whale ***** PJDM intake.

 

Any help? I'm attempting to install this now.

Is there a tutorial online as to how to install this? The instructions that PJDM gave, in my opinion, seem incomplete. Especially for someone who is new to engine modifications.

 

what does the second hose go to? the hoses are there for a reason so if its something you can make work it would be best, otherwise plugging it would be the quickest fix. you can screw a screw in the hose or something to plug it

 

Well, one of the hoses is on the top of the valve cover, and a replacement hose was given do to the other hoses lack of movability. The other hose is CONNECTED via a 1 inch nipple to a hose that it connected behind the valve cover. It's on the right back part of it. And the other part that hose is connected to, I'm not quite sure what it's called. It's right below, and behind the valve cover.

 

The hose that is resting on top of the valve cov er is the hose that was connected to the nipple that is bare, and the other end was connected to the intake. The instructions say nothing about that hose, nor do they give any spot to put that hose. My uqestions is, is that hose unimportant, and should I simply plug it in somehow?

Also, on the over shot, the nipple is conencted to the hose behind the valve cover, that goes along it. Just to give you a better picture of where and what it is.

I noticed that if I put my finger over the nipple and covered the hole for only a second, the car sounded like it was dying down a bit, like the rpms instantly went down. Again, that's what I believed was happening, because I wasn't going to hold it long enough for it to die.

My question now is, is it safe to have it just sitting there? Also, the intake sounds like its sucking in air when it idles, or the way it's sucking in air sounds awkward because stock is quieter. It's like a high pitch sound, is this normal? And is it necessary to have the saddle bracket installed? Because I rather not drill any holes.

Now I know that 99.9% of the HT community has an intake in their car, and someone must have gone through this problem, or know the resolution. I figured it'd be an easy one that would require no more than a sentence to answer.

That's what I was thinking, but is that the proper way? Will it effect the car in any bad way. It must have been connected to the intake for some reason, and my thinking is that it gets more air that way. Thanks for the reply.
