It seems like every time things start moving smoothly something goes wrong. One of the bolts that attaches the tow hooks won't come out. It just turns. I was wondering what the best way to tackle this would be..
thanks

I'm removing the tow hook because I'm putting in a new traction bar.
I think that I might have to drill and tap a new hole, but I've never had to do that.. and honestly, I'm not sure how to go about taping a new hold. What I mean is, how do I create new thread in the hole? Wouldn't a drill bit mess the already existing thread up?
Thanks again

you would have to tap a new hole... your local hardwear store would sell tap and die kits... all you would need is the right size for the bolt....
and yes the drill bit will mess up the threads no matter what and how easily you take it .. the chances are that when you spun the bolt out already striped the threads on the inside.... try heating it up and then splashing some cold water on the bolt... worked for mine

i dont think the tap and die set is gonna do you any good. the original hole just has a nut welded to the inside of the sheet metal. more than likely that nut has came loose and is just spinning. if you do get the bolt out the nut on the back side is just gonna fall and leave you with nothing to tap but sheet metal.

this guy is dead on. you'll probably need to cut an access hole to get that bolt out and then back in with a new nut

yea but the question is how does he get the nut off if its just spinning(i think thats what he's trying to say)....PRESSURE PRESSURE PRESSURE my friend...you need somethin to apply pressure to the nut as your trying to losen it(i am understanding this right, right?)....a pair of pliers to grip the nut, and a pry bar or a flat bar to keep the plyers in place as you try to unscrew it...i dont know i think i may be thinking of something else but i know pressure on a stripped nut is the only way to get it off without cuting it
first cut the head off the problem bolt. Then hit it inside and forget about it. Get a new 8 or 10mm nut( I forget which size) drill a hole big enough to get it in then weld it in and grind off whatever doesn't sit flush. Or just use the 2 bolts on that side and call it a day.
