Default car bogs after pumping gas

Hey people every time I fill up gas my car has trouble starting. It bogs and sometimes dies. Most of the time I have to crank it up 2 times and hold the gas a little for it to actually stop bogging and run normal. The car is tuned on crome with basic mods *intake, header, exhaust, testpipe, cam gears*

Could it be my fuel pump is going bad? The fuel pump has about 180,000 miles on It and I'm not sure If the previous owner ever changed out the fuel filter, but thats my next choice.

id do what you are thinking on.....only time this happened to me is when i pumped cheap gas in on of my sols....next time used a better gas station and no problem...

are you filling up at the same location? or same type of gas station?

if not try the fuel pump/filter

Id definitely replace that asap. I've been seeing a lot of reports of gas stations watering down their gas too so stick to gas stations that get a lot of business (fresh gasoline). </TD></TR></TABLE>

I don't think they water down their gas purposely. Theres a natural condesation that occurs and water forms in the tank. I've heard you shouldn't pump gas while or just after a tanker fills up the tank. Hence he stirs up the water that sits in the bottom below the gas. Remember oil cannot be mixed with water, it floats above it.

I've always heard the same thing. If they've just pumped or are pumping gas, go somewhere else.

Thats weird, I have the same problem. I drove my car all the way to E and filled up some gas at a Chevron station I have never gone to and my car would drive and then when ever I stopped, my RPM's would fall to where it almost dies then I would have to give it some gas and it would be fine.

I thought my IACV was acting up and was about to change it when I went back to my original gas station, 76, and it stopped completely. to crap gas!!

FYI: I am running on CROME as well...and only have 30k ish miles on my fuel filter

I pump at shell/76 with 91 octane only since thats all they have in Souther California. Both gas stations are always busy.

Thats weird also because I thought it was my IACV. Also during idle it bogs down and I have to step on the gas a little for it to actually idle above 100 RPM.

honestly I bought my motor from a warehouse its a JDM ITR and sometimes I have a feeling that the bottom end of the motor has higher compression pistons because when I went to 2 different tuners they couldn't figure out why my car kept having detonation during uphill at low rpms. They literally retarded my timing to about 15 degrees. Anything above that It has detonation. So maybe the 91 octane I'm using isn't working out with the whole "imaginary built bottom end."

or maybe my local gas stations are only serving 87 octane at every pump. I should try 101 octane and see If it makes a difference.

Unplug your purge control vavle. On 98+ hondas, the output is inverted, so it opens when it should not and creates that bog.

Ok I'm going to take a look at it right now.. will report back.

edit: only wire I found similar was green/black/yellow located on the canister. I'm still looking though If anyone is aware of where the plug is located exactly on the firewall please let me know asap!

OK i went to my local mechanic and my car doesn't even have a purge control valve to begin with. But there was a hose connected from the charcoal canister to the throttle body and he simply pulled that off and capped it. So I went and filled up some gas and it started up like a champ with no bogging issues. Its actually starting to idle a little better then before. big thanks to Turbogixxer.

it's more likely the USA's crap fuel than it is high compression bottom end.

I'm not usually too picky about what I put in my daily driver that will run on anything and with prices the way they are I don't care as long as it runs. But I try to run better fuel in my R for obvious reasons.
