Default Just finished my components (splits) up front in my EG9

cOMNow this may not appeal to many, but I'm into keeping the car stock and changing as little as possible. Unfortunatly, SADM (South African Domestic Market) doesn't come out with tweeter mounts in the EG chassis, so when mouting my set of 5 1/4's up front, I had to spend a bit of time making a bracket as the tweeters didn't come with mounting plates.

The Speakers are JBL GTO 5, 1'4. Mid line stuff that I got for cheap cheap and sound great running off the HU.

This is rrunning off the HU and linked to a 2 channel clarion amp running a single JBL GTO 8" SVC in a custom fibreglass enclosure in the back, 100% stealth. Plus I need to retain as much boot space as possible as it's a family car that gets used a lot and with a 15 month old, I can't have it that loud anyway. When the sub box is done, I'll update.

Here's what it's in.

1995 SADM EG9, locally badged as the 180i Spreeline with a B18b3. All stock.

Looks good and like factory. Head unit is under powering the "splits", but you probably know that. B18B3...Nice!

Yup, I know that the speakers are under powered by quite a long shot, but for the moment and for my needs, it's better than the 13 year old crud that they've just replaced.

excuse the stupid question...but what do you mean by "splits?" is it referring to the crossover or lack of?

This is no doubt a South African term.

We call them splits, you guys refer to them as components. Normal, Mid, crossover and tweeter set-up.

The MDF has been sealed against the elements, just a nice thick clear laquer.

I would mount the tweets on the door panel. I don't think they are doing to much for your front stage down there.

You're talking about low sound stage, but then you come back with a comment about mounting the tweeters higher so that you're now creating unequal (by a long shot) path lengths with regards to the LHS and RHS tweeters?????

I take it that you've never seen kick panel mounted components in your life? The stock locations in the EG are not that far off buddy.........
