Need some help on my D16 Turbo Build.
Well, I have been toying around, and decided to boost my little D16 instead of going B series. I'm just looking for a fun/save daily.
Goal: 220WHP. Around those lines. With a/c and save daily.
Tune: Local shop with a VERY well known tuner. Hoping Hondata S100 or S200.
Motor: Completely stock D16y8. Just got rebuilt so almost new bottom end(except piston/rods)
Doing everything name brand. Money is tight, but want to keep it save, and not do "EBay" "JDM" brand.
My personal plans are going with low compression pistons, and just build my kit, or get lucky and find a semi finished kit.
Slapping it on, and trailer the car to the shop. It's going to T1 in Fort Worth for all the local guys.
Now, as far as the low comp pistons go, will either of these work? Should the headgasket be a big deal, or can I use the stock 3 layer gasket? New of course.
Seller 1: http://search.stores.ebay.com/...ofpZ0
Seller 2: http://search.stores.ebay.com/...ofpZ0
Are those any good for what I'm building?
Never heard of those company's that make the Pistons, but sound some what real.
Thanks guys for helping me. Being this is my first build, and I honestly don't want to mess it up.
And will I even be making enough to upgrade my fuel? Injector/FP?

Go to FJdistributors.com and get some vitara pistons and rods from him. This will be a good solid bottom end to work with. If you want, you can stick with stock internals and most likely see your goal of 220whp without too much to worry about. I personally wouldn't look for much beyond 200whp with stock internals, but I have seen others push the limits beyond that. With pistons and rods you would be able to go much much higher and have more fun however.
Leave the engine stock, no need to do pistons/rods in it for 220whp. If you plan on more down the road, then go ahead. Or, if you have the spare cash laying around, do it anyway for just for extra insurance.
Walbro 255lhp and RC 440s is what you will want for your goals.
Depending on the turbo you choose you may need to invest in a map sensor, but I won't know until you tell us what turbo you're going to run.
With Tony tuning you should be gold with a good setup.

Site #1 is a YCP pistons
Site #2 is a nippon piston
The YCP are the ones you want. They can be bought form FJT or ebay, I bought mine from ebay and they work.

http://fjdistributors.com/ He sells a sweet bottom end rebuild kit if you want to go with the vitaras. For 220hp I would recommend staying with the stock block, locals are running 240hp on an old block with a very good tune and it seems to run great.
Yes, Tony is probably going to laugh at me since I want this little thing tuned by him, but I am not going cheap!
Looks like YCP are going to make my choice. I want to make sure she will be reliable, so there is a good 80% I might go with Pistons. You never know. Is YCP pretty well known out there?
I was looking at 330s, but bigger won't hurt?
Yes, Walbro 255 was my goal.
Damn, FJ is pretty pricey. I might as well shoot for Eagle with that $$$$. But I don't have that kind of $$$ to spend on just rods at the moment. Thats why my goals are low for now. I'm starting to even shoot around 200whp. Won't get me much, but maybe a fun daily...
Last question, would Neptune by a decent EM? I've heard they are decent on price, and have good tuning options... Hondata S100/S200 is always open too....
Forgot, I will have to install everything here, and take about a 40 mile drive to T1. I will not have any boost, but looks like the trailer option is scratched.....

Well, my mind was changed too fast. Not going with pistons for now since I honestly just rebuilt the motor, and don't have the time/money to open her up again....

Building my second boosted D setup right now... Y8 block, Z6 crank, FJ custom H beams and Vitaras. Ran a 100% stock Z6 before with a Greddy at 7lbs for a while. Did 14.0 @ 102mph with it... wasn't bad but this time I am looking to run around 15psi with an edelbrock kit on the new setup.

I'm also looking to boost with my tax return I had a few Qs dont mean to thread jack but what is the difference between dsm and RC 440s ? and how much can I expect to spend on injectors .. and is a FMU required? i know they are not good to use how do you get around using a FMU .. and as far as hondata goes how do you choose one thats right for your application ?

i have a buddy that has a stock single cam vtec turbo eg..on 10 pounds (t3/t4 57 trim) with bf goodrich drag radial he did 12.6 1/4.......with his new vitara bottom end (oem 3 layer head gasket) stock head 20 pounds on slicks, he did 11.6 1/4....soo yes those parts should be useful....but again tuning is a big part of it....

I just recently bought a t3/t4 57 trim turbo for my mini me build [d15b7 block with d16z6 head]from this local guy for $385 its a xs power turbo lolll. I didnt know anything about the turbo until after i bought it i read up on forums and alot of people talk bad about them but some say its allright its basically a hit or miss turbo.I was wondering do u think this turbo would be any good i was planning on gettin some vitara pistons and scat rods with some dsm injectors Arp head studs ect what would be a good build for this turbo? or is that good enough what should i consider since im dealing with this turbo? has anyone built a d16 using this turbo or no and should i keep stock internals or what...
just some advice on saving money since you are going d16 i figure you are a little tighter on money.
1. Use quality parts and just clean them. that can cut your price in half if not lower and when cleaned they look like new.
2. I personally would see if the shop tunes with some free program. see if you can find someone that tunes with ectune. I was on Crome for about a year and then I wanted more power so we upped the boost and he tuned it with ectune and its like night and day. ectune is smooth as butter where as crome felt like sand paper.
I also have my stock d16 that has been running around for about 2 years now, with no problems at all.......havent even changed the oil for like 15k miles now lol. its a y7.
I also have an egay turbo but payed like 150 for mine brand new and its still solid. not even any shaft play, the seals are bad i think...

thanks for the advice i was goin to do chrome for the ecu but ill look into the ectune now. Its crazy how u found a ebay kit for 150 lolll makes me feel a little better about mine knowing that yours is still solid,i guess its all about the tune im not in a rush now or anything since its winter so i guess its a good time to look around and see what i can find btw do u know anything about the vitaras pistons and scat rods? I read alot about them but everyone was basically talking about full z6 swaps not to much on the mini me if that would make a difference? i heard they work good together and the vitaras seem really impressive for the price. I have high miles on my block and im not to sure how many are on the head so im pretty sure i want to rebuild everything because it doesnt seem to expensive for d series.
I could hook you up with my tuner he is ectune certified or what ever and has the program. Look up Sewell94 on here and pm him. there is only a handful in the country that have it, he is a real good guy and has good prices. if you cant get it tuned with ectune i would try crome pro or neptune. Dont get me wrong hondata is good stuff but it is pricey.
scat rods are good rods the vitara piston is an incredible piston for the price. I still have yet to hear a failure with them. i will be running them with in two weeks or so =D. I think the record is 450whp or so i know its mid 400's or maybe higher. If you can try and get FJT rods that he makes. they are suppose to be 9.0:1 compression with the vitaras if you run say eagle rods or scat rods(I have eagles) they are going to be like 8.0:1 compression and that is a little low. dont worry if you already have the rods though.
