Default 944Cup expanding to include 944-Spec class (thanks NASA)

I know this probably won't get much attention here and I'm cluttering up this forum with threads but the 944 Cup Series is going to be expeanding to 2 classes. It looks like National NASA will be promoting the 944 Cup on a country wide level with the additon of the new 944-Spec class.

The series will now include the "prepared" class, under the current rules and "spec" class as drawn up by a few guys out in Arizona. So, if you know anyone who has a street 944 and wants to get into road racing, the new spec class is for them. Thanks for listening.

As long as you're legal to SCCA or PCA rules as detailed below you can run. Each sanctioning body has different things they allow so I couldn't list things out for you. (i.e. SCCA allows chipping while PCA does not) We're not talking "showroom stock" but we're not talking GT either. If you need, I can point you to the respective rule books.

Class - Engine - Weight*
SCCA ITA - n/a - 2420 lbs
SCCA ITS - 2.5L - 2800 lbs
SCCA ITS - 2.7L - 3000 lbs
PCA Stock H - 2.5L - 2900 lbs
PCA Stock H - 2.7L - 3100 lbs
PCA Stock I - 2.0L Turbo - 2800 lbs
PCA Stock I** - 2.5L - 2800 lbs
PCA Stock I - 2.7L - 3000 lbs
PCA Stock J - n/a - 2420 lbs
* All weights INCLUDE driver
** Exception weight for 924S: 2755lbs
944S is NOT eligible for the series - see above

edit: keep in mind that the 924 and 931 are eligible for the series as well, not just the 944

There is also a 944 Cup Class running in NASA - Virginia with another set of rules. Turbos, for example, are not allowed.

Yeah, that's what I detailed above Grumpy... but thanks! We're thinking about including the Turbos in a different class for next year but will have to wait and see what interest levels look like.
