EP3 doesn't call for premium unleaded. The original question was about people who use regular in a car that calls for premium.

My friend has a 2000 VW Passat 2.0 turbo. It calls for premium and he puts in regular and after 200K, no problems whatsoever. Not saying that this goes for everyone, but it may be harmless. Or detrimental. Who knows? Follow manufacturer recommendations.
116 octane is awesome.

Boy, no need to sugar coat it around here.
The EP3 manual recommends using fuel with detergent additives (Shell v-power) and dyno tests have proven that the factory ECU adjusts for more power when using Premium.

I want to clear up that I use 91+ but I was just curious to what everyone else did, I'm pretty use to buying premium considering the other car will explode if anything less then 93 is used.

I'll be boosted in the very near future, so I'm not concerned about paying an extra $1-2 every time I fill up for Premium crunk juice.

What EP3 manual do you have? Mine just states to use 86 pump octane or higher. It does state recommendation to use gasoline with detergent additives. However, detergent additives are in EVERY gasoline on the market.

Actually, there were some tests back in the day that showed the EP3 adapted to the higher octane and made about 3 HP more on the dyno.
