Default 38mm wheels on a coupe.

Does anybody have this offset on their car? Would anyone recommend it?

what size? that offset should be good though. may need a little camber but you should be fine.

i've seen people running lower offset, and i am going to be running lower offset and probably -1.5 to -2.0 camber in back and -1.5 in front

38 to 43 is actually what is recommended by the factory.

Any documentation from Honda saying that those range of offsets are what is recommended for these cars?

bump b/c I want to know what the widest 17" rim can be and fit 235/40/17s Dunlop Direzzas or RT615s on them.

I'd like to get at least a 17x8.5 and not have to fender roll or buy camber kits. roll stock suspension for SCCA autocross.

FYI, just traded in my 06 350Z track model in for a new 08 Si cpe galaxy grey! I think I made a good move!

I'm gonna get 25mm spacers for the front and 15mm spacers for the rear, im currently running 18x7.5 +50 offset with 235/40/18 tires , reason im running higher in front is cause i have a jdm front which fenders stick out 10mm more. factory is 45mm so 38 will be fine, 7mm isnt that much

if your on stock suspension i think you'll be fine with a 17x8.5 on 235x40. your only problem may come when your suspension compresses and you might rub a little.

Coo. Thanks for the reply. I might go with a narrower rim. 17x8. More options and less weight.

I am actually thinking of buying the suspension first now before rims. I guess the 06+ Civic Si is in STX which basically will require a Si to run 235s and suspension. I'd rather work out the suspension bugs on shatty tires first. I know tires should basically be your first upgrade but I'd rather put the tires to better use once I have a suspension that can compliment them. i've owned a 95 K20a2 civic race prepped so I know how this road is.. .

Is there any proof of the offset range of 38-43mm being recommended by Honda?

after I get some money I'm gonna go with 17x9+45. Thats face III for most rim manufacturers and I'll run a 255/40 tire. MugenKid on the ocho is running 17x9+38 or 40 with a 245/45.

I thought that JDM fenders were only 5mm wider?

I am running 17x8 +38 and my fronts rub just a little even with the camber set in a tad with the ingalls bolts. I would recommend a 40 series tire..

255/40 on 17x9 is going to be counter productive unless you are putting out over 250whp. Tires will on average weigh 4lbs more EACH and wheels around 1.5 - 2lbs depending on offset. Thats adding 6lbs each corner. Not good on a torque challenged Honda when you could get away with smaller.

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/...ocQty=

For a descent price(under $400 per wheel) you can had 17x8 rims weighing in under 17lbs. There are a few under 16lbs as well.

255s fit best on 10" rims FYI
235s are best on 8.5-9s but 8" can pretty square depending on what tire you are using.

* Face 3 is typically not going to be on +45 setups. +40 to +1 to NEG actually

What made you go with a 45 tire instead of 40?

I've been looking it up. yokohama recomends a 255 on a 9 inch wheel. (I want yokohama advan ao48s). And on with work wheels, volk, gram light and i think another company. 17x9+45 is face III for all of em.
