Default Replacing air filter in 1997 Accord

1997 Honda Accord 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual 158,00 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
I'd like to replace the air filter on my 1997 Honda Accord.

However, the front part of the air filter housing is blocked by a plastic exhaust that appears to fit into a pipe.

This plastic piece must be removed so I can remove the air filter housing cover, but I see no way to remove the piece other than to yank it out.

What is the safe and correct way to reach the air filter?

Thanks.

It's got a little flap on it right?

Just pull it up and wiggle it out.

The tube should pull right out.

That's the one. I will commence wiggling.

If I break anything, I'll send the bill to 02 accord.

Thanks!

I didn't say it will.

Haha

Yeah it really isn't too bad, if I recall you gotta wiggle it past the battery as there's a hump that juts outwards about halfway down.
