Default Please Help...have been searching and reading for hours....91 Accord

Thank you in advance for helping me out here. this is the situation.

1991 Honda Accord
5-speed
4-cyl

Okay....98,000 miles, one owner car. One day I went to the store and was about to park. I turned the car off going about 5 mph and let the car just coast into the spot.

When i got out of the store, the car did NOTHING. No cranking or turning over of the motor at all. Had Radio, Dome Lite, ect.

I thought it was the Battery, so had it charged (autozone was near by, so i walked). Nothing. had some friendly people from the store push me in reverse, and car fired up with popping of the clutch method.

Was able to drive it home, turned it off, and tried to re-start.......nothing. Just a buzzing sound (kinda like a fuel pump sound)

I removed the Starter.......took it to autozone, and had it tested. It passed 3 tests (i think) they did...it spun freely. Installed the starter again.

What could this be then?

Read of Pressure building up in the gas tank (which i removed the cap, but nothing).

Read of the Main Rely that doesn't work when it gets hot, but the car has never works, even at night, so i dont think this is it.

Read of a Ignition switch, but I found that the ignition switch is when the car turns over, but no spark....in my case, the car does not even crank at all.

PLEASE - PLEASE - PLEASE help me.

Thanks a million.

There is a switch connected to the clutch that allows the car to start when the clutch pedal is pressed. This is most likely at fault from what you have described.

You can short the wires together so your car would start regardless of clutch engagement. To fix it properly you would need to buy a new switch.

THANK YOU!

Can you believe the car has been parked over 2 months because I thought i had to buy a new starter!

Car fired up on the first try after i cut the two Clutch Start Switch wires and "looped" them together.

Thanks a million again!
