Default engine wining

sometimes when my engine is running something is making a wining sound. I think its the alternator. anyone else have this problem? If so does it mean its going bad or somehow needs to be lubed?

the bearings are about to go out of commission on the alternator. u have 2 options u can change it now and prevent failure while out on the road or wait till the bearing decides to seize up in which case will put more load on your engine ( if you were idling it would be enough to make u stall) and if u are far from home there is a chance your battery may not get u home. i had the same problem good luck.

alright thanks. is it a good idea to get a used one? I dont want the same thing to happen but a new one is a lot of money, unless someone knows where good priced new ones are.
