Sway Bar question
First of all, I have a 1997 civic EX coupe....
I dont think my car has a rear sway bar, so any sway bar would help handling, right??
I heard from one of my friends that if I could find a Integra GSR sway bar, I could bolt it in and it would help my handling a lot. I assume that I could find one for pretty cheap after someone got a type-r sway bar for their integra, or something like that.
My question is, how simple would it be to bolt on a GSR sway bar?? Is it a straight bolt on, do i need to drill some holes?? Will i need new LCA's??
Also, how much would I expect to pay for one??
Thanks!!!

you have one already, a teg bar will bolt right in
Shawn
99-00 si's have a 14mm rear sway bar that will bolt in. You will need the bar, bushings, d-brackets and endlinks. That might not do a whole lot compared to an itr bar with a beaks kit. You can use your LCAs.

EX coupes and sedans have a front sway but no rear. Hatchbacks have nothing at all.
perhaps he meant the front sway.
anyway i'm not too excited about getting a gsr or si rear sway bar or even the front/rear Suspension TEchnique kit (the set i am running with only because i got it good deal). you dont need to go 25mm up front with a 19mm rear (ST setup for my car at least). If i were you i'd just get a 19mm rear sway bar and keep the 22mm stock front sway bar. stay away from the itr rear 22mm unless you think you'd need it

Suspension techniques makes good products, they stay big on the front bar because the "average" driver does not know how to drive a car with oversteer tendencies. Ultimate understeer at the limit is easier to control anyways, the most important thing on an ff car is to get it as balanced and nuetral as possible. I am running whiteline swaybars on my Integra and while the handling is excellent, understeer comes into play at my vehicles handling limits (takes a bit with S-03 pole positions and all of my other suspenison mods).
For the Civic applications I would recommend either the suspension techniques bars or the beaks kit and an ITR rear swaybar, although with the ITR rear bar I recommend you find a large parking lot (empty) and practice with your car, this will be the safest way to learn its over/understeer tendencies and to also learn the point at which it occurs.
I have seen some SCCA folks remove their front bar and go to a big rear bar, this is succesful for some and for others all they get out of it is snap oversteer (the vehicle oversteers w/o warning)
