go to walmart. Synthetic oil is between $20 (for valvoline, castrol, etc.) and $22 (for mobil1). That's for 5 quarts. You can't beat that with a stick.
Buy the OEM filter. Honda does not make oil.
They outsource oil. Infact, they use valvoline in the overhead pumps here, IIRC. Maybe they sell oil packaged with the "Honda" name on it...but it's made by someone else.
The MTF, for example, is Idemitsu oil with certain types of additives at a certain viscosity. The MTF, however, is not the same as oil available elsewhere.
Their motor oil is probably not that complicated. It's probably bought from Mobil, Valvoline, Castrol, or someone else. They decide that it meets Honda specs...badge it as "Honda" oil and sell it for more $$. You can probably find the same damn thing elsewhere...except for it wont have "Honda" on the oil bottle.

i use royal purple, but it isn't free lol. its about 50 bucks for 6qts. I would stick with the honda filter though, with that mator dont mess around. 16 bucks seems high, even for a honda dealer when hondas list islike 11 bucks.
I just picked a filter up from honda and it was 16 + tax. I would say you can get a better deal online ($8.13 from Majestic Honda) but shipping is another 15 bucks!

what's your zip code? And why would you only buy one? If you change your own oil then buy the 6-pack
$45.14 + $9.34 (ground shipping) = $54.58
divided by 6 filters = $9.08 each.
Money well spent in my book and that's almost 1/2 of what you are paying for them.

Royal purple is $7.30 at autozone around here. 5qts would be around $36. I guess since you need slightly over 5qts usually, it'd be around $43.
The honda dealer around here claimed that oil filter costs went up. It's now $15 including tax. They were nice enough to knock 10% off for me (for no reason?).

Too expensive. At walmart, like I said before, it's $22 for 5 quarts. That's a much better deal. The S2000 takes more than a gallon of oil anyway.
