i just bought a hatch with an LS swap in it and i was just wondering the differences between the two. For example how the d16z6 and d16y8. The Y8 has the crank sensor down at the oil pump and the dip stick to the side where the z6 does not. I need to know because this kid i bought it from has a pr4 ECU and its throwing code 12 for the EGR and there is no EGR. And if it is OBD2 then i know what ECU to look for.

 

if its throwing a code for egr its an auto ecu. manily all the auto cars had egrs back then. what style hatch ef,eg what?

 

its in an EG hatch. The car runs great when im moving but idles like **** and sometimes shuts off.

 

ok i figured it out. Its an OBD1 Auto ECU. You were right. also i know it doesn't matter because they are all but identical but its for a b18a1. Regardless, i need a new ecu. And my motor is a 98 LS. This guy i bought it from had no clue obviously
