Default could vtec be stuck open?

someone asked me today if maybe my car was stuck on the vtec lobe which would cause my bad idle...

he mentioned this because you can never hear vtec kick in, but it really really feels like its activated on the top end...you can't actually hear it or feel it tho...and i figure it would cause a lopy idle...

quick help? i'm looking into it right now...

Wow, I can see where this is gonna end up already - another VTEC engagement arguement.

I highly doubt that your VTEC is stuck. Never ever heard that before.

The complexity of that problem occurring leads me to believe in its impossibility

Yes, it is a possibility if he has a VTEC controller and the set point is too low.
Disconect the solenoid and see if anything changes.

The lowest my VAFC will let me go is 3100rpm. I dont think it would stay on at idle.

Not enough oil pressure at idle to lock the pins into the secondary rocker arm.

Yeah, even the Fields unit will only let you set it on 3000 at the lowest I think...

I doubt it. Only thing i would do is disconnect the solenoid and see if that fixes the problem with the idle.

you could also check for vaccum leaks, but thjat's a broad problem u described
