What is the best way to protect the paint on a new car.
Just bought a new 08 CRV NBPearl. I want to take good care of the paint. Should I use Mothers liquid wax or the paste for her first waxing?
Any other brands or methods? 3M clear film worth the money?

Just keep up w/ the wax and clay bar it before you wax... I tend to use mothers products when taking care of my car
3M clean film is definetly worth the money. It's customizable so you can just protect your front bumper or you can go crazy and protecty pretty much the entire front half of your car. I don't have it personally but I have heard GREAT reviews about it.

The film seems like a great idea. But im worried that it will cause an uneven wear and fading of the paint. Im sure you have seen other people put a bumper sticker on the paint and take it off 3-4 or more years down the road you can easily tell there has been a sticker there. That is my only real concern with the 3M film. Kinda like people putting those clear plastic floor mats over the carpet, they get yellow and dirty. Will the film fade as well?
Has anyone had the film on the car for 3 plus years yet?
Is the Clay bar system needed before for my first wax application? Is there any difference between the Can or bottle version. I thought the Clay bar was used on 2+ year old paints.

I work at an acura dealership and we sell that clear 3m film as an option on the cars. I have noticed that after 1 to 2 years that you can see a big difference from what protected and not. the film seem to lose the gloss and makes the front end look cloudy. it does its job of protecting from rock chips but I personally don't use it.
Thank you for the useful reply.
I had a feeling that film would do that. So it looks like a good Carnuba paste waxing once a month will be the best possible solution.

Look into teflon waxing in your area! **** works wonders! Better than wax considering wax needs to be applied twice a year! Teflon coating is good for almost two years and brings out a amazing shine!
Brake Fluid does wonders on your digestive system too.
Am I in the wrong forum or somthing? Is there some sticky post somewhere regarding proper paint care for a new car? It might sound like a no brainer to some but other people might wanna know what experienced people have to say, like the guy from the acura dealership informing us about the 3M film pros and cons.
There are all kinds of crap on the market for paint protection how do you know what to choose.
