an automatic would go against everything the SI stands for.

If you bought an Si we can do a manual to auto conversion for $6800.00 all parts included and 12 month 12000 mile warranty.

what term do they use??
tiptronic??
same **** as auto hahaha

in the automobile world, anything with 2 pedals is considered automatic unless you're driving a million dollar race car or the new evos

do you always put your foot in your mouth or were you born with and suffer from severe retardation?

do your research before you say stupid **** like that...DSG tranny are NOT idential to :automatics/triptronics NOR are they SMG's

So the new M's with a sequential manual gearbox's which do NOT have a clutch nor the 3rd pedal considered an automatic by your standards?

you're an idiot...DSG's have been proven to shift faster then some of the worlds BEST SMG's..such as an ENZO's Sequential Mangual Gearbox...

YES! I said it...TECHNICALLY the DSG tranny WILL shift faster then a Ferrari ENZO's SMG

Incorrect on a couple levels: tiptronic is just a torque-converter automatic with a manual-shift feature. (It's also a registered trademark, but somehow it's become the generic term for trannys with such features.) Also, the new "automatic" Evo MR uses the same type of tranny as many other cars, including the GTI with the DSG, so i don't know why you singled out the MR.

The term "automatic" is becoming subjective as different type of transmissions arise, many of which are superior.

The launch control only allow you to rev up to about 3K. Some guys used it more of a toy. DSG is pretty fun I guess. My neighbor have a GTI auto 4 door. He tend to rev and drop gears like a video at any hint of a need to pass.

Where as some guys would just give it more gas while still in the same gear.

All VWs "automatics" will be DSG as models are refresh. Only the base strip entry level will offer automatic. Starting with the new Jetta Diesel with DSG. I assume by then, VW's DSG would have things taken out of it, like launch control.
