USDM Gansan (Glen) will be racing with TCRA at California Speedway. Doug Hayashi is supposed to be there too in the Flamemobile.
Victor will be racing in the Vancouver Molson Indy Support. And as you know, Mr Spoon will be there too.
GOOD LUCK YOU GUYS
Scott, who wishes he could travel to both this weekend instead of neither.....

From what I hear Glenn's car is pretty fast now that he has a HyTech header and exhaust on it and Doctor Charles @ Area51 was able to fix his ecu problem that was resulting in a 8000 rpm rev limiter...it recently smoked the Area51 EK with the DC5R motor in it while going in a straight line.
I wouldn't mind seeing the race, but California Speedway it waaaayyy too far for me to drive...especially in the POS geo that I'm driving at the moment.

I think any time any of us are racing it's a great weekend.
Glen Kawano bought one of the DC cars from Taz and runs in one of the TCRA race groups. Glen doesn't pop up much on the board, but when he does it's always good to see him - he's one of the good guys. TCRA's racing is like many other SCCA Alternatives - as good as the people racing. Glen's a good driver. He will have special assistance from retired Acura racer turned Aerodynamic Consultant Andy Sites. Expect Glen to be fast and loose, maybe even scared shitless. Also hopefully running at California Speedway will be Shawn Bota (used to be YeahLS, now TheOne(?), works for Stoptech) - with a superlightweight ITR with (if I read and inferred right) a new vanilla reliability motor after enjoying his B20Vtec thru only a very short lifetime.
Victor Penner likewise isn't a constant presence on the board, but he too is one of the good guys. He runs a bit of SCCA and Conference, but mostly the Canadian stuff in his SpOOm ITR. The Molson Indy Support race is a pretty big deal for the local sports car racers, just as it was with the Miata's at Laguna or the sports cars at Portland.
See, doesn't that all sound like a great weekend in the making?
Scott, who says "take that you irritating East Coast Honda Challenge racers"....grumble, grumble,......grumble,......<thinks about VIR>..."sigh"....

Let's not forget about the CalClub/SCCA 6-hour Day-into-Night Enduro at Buttonwillow on Saturday. Should be an interesting assortment of machinery on track - at least at the start! All SCCA classes are lumped into three Enduro classes for this race. Production based cars, tube frame GT cars and even sports racers are eligible.
Our current plans are to race the Intrax Audi A4 1.8T Quattro in the race, assuming no prep glitches surface in the next day or two. It's a Grand-Am Cup car that we'll be running in ITE.
The race starts at 5 pm and runs until 11 pm. Come on out and join us! The track is only about 1.5 hours from LA, within sight of the 5 freeway. Directions are available on the Buttonwillow site.

unfortunately, yeahLS aka The ONE aka shawn won't be able to make the race this weekend. His Integra LS, is still in pieces and most likely will not be put back together in time
On the flip side, Esteban aka EPGONZALEZ aka Mr. Mugen (
) will be making his debut race this weekend at CA Speedway
y
shi - who wanted to race his semi-stock ITR, but has to hang out w/ friends and family b/c he was born 30 yrs ago on the wrong weekend
GOOD LUCK everyone and keep it clean unlike last weekend's WC race in DC.

There's also a SCCA National Tour at Bremerton this weekend. I've been kinda out of the autocross scene this year, but I'll be co-driving a white SM monster Civic this weekend at the Tour. Looks like if you're on the west coast and can't find a race this weekend, it's your own damn fault.
Thanks Everyone!
Moved into the paddock today and got setup and then I walked Mr. Spoon around the track for a brief lesson. I cornered him and said "what's up with this JDM vs NA spring rate deal?" He looked me straight in the eye and said "who are you?" So you heard it here first, straight from the man himself.
I'll give a brief update tommorrow.
