Default 7000$ dollars to rebuild a b18c or do a k20a swap need advice!!!!!!

Ok so about 5 months ago i was in a car accident i was driving my 97 ek with a 96 jdm ITR swap. The guy that hit me slamed into the left front( faild to yield on a grren light to turn left) the engine cut of and i saw that the camgearsa where busted along with the timing belt i didnt see no fluids leak from the the engine or saw any cracks on the block so i got the engine sent to One6 motorsports.. to rebuild it but i wanna know how much money am i looking to pay when it comes to a bad *** rebuilt engine??? I was also interested on the K20a And i hear people say that they are expensive and take along time to work correctly.. How much more expensive will it be to rebuild the k20a from the b18c????? help!!!!!!!

the thing is that with a bad a$$ b series build will make more power per dollar than a k build will so if you think 7k on a b is alot think about doing all the same things to the K and add that up. not worth it to me. probally in a few years when the k is everywhere then I will get into it but still to much and parts are to much as well.

^^agreed u have to look at it like a stock k swap is gonna run over 7000 probably about 10000 and you can take that motor you got and built it with about 7000 and make it faster... definatly agree on K parts being expensive and i also think ill get into K down the road when they are more available and cheaper... but for now build your b series...

If its stock probably like 180ish hp.

If you have something nasty like a larger bore/stroke with 15:1 comp pistons and nasty cams then you'll see quite a bit more.

You'll also need race gas, which is roughly $10 a gallon.

The OP can barely type/ spell. I think he should focus his money towards a education more than having a $7000 motor under the hood of his 1996 econo car

well if i was gonna build that motor i would go to Golden Eagle and sleeve it to 85mm then build off that. Give it 7000 dollars correctly and you could see over 200whp.

for 7000 you should see a hell of a lot more than 200 haha

LS block machined to 81.25- 250
high comp pistons/ eagle rods- 800
bearings seals gaskets oil pump ect- 400
GE LSV kit- 200
B16 head ported polished springs retainers- 1000
cams intake manifold header- 1000

3500 you could do a 200whp build easily

i would definitely go with 00b20vtecoupe idea. i had my motor sleeved by golden eagle and i have not been dissappointed. sleeve the block and throw some eagle rods and weisco pistons in it and you will be set. if you do all that you will have a nice setup and you could always turbo and make alot more power if you wanted

WOW & 7G's for 200hp lmao That's one of the dumbest things I herd. You can do a H swap for 3000 and have 200hp and still have 4 G's left to play with

you need to venture into the all motor forum if you think 3500 dollars wont get you a simple reliable 200whp setup

if you have $7,000 then I say get a k20a2 and not a type R. get some cheap ebay aftermarket headers, a type R ecu so you dont need to get k pro, buy everything used including engine mounts, and do some research on k20a.org until you really know what a k swap is all about.

get the K it wont be 7000 or anywhhere near, if anything shop around for a wrecked 02-05 si or a wrecked RSX for a K or a wrecked acord with a K24, there are so many ways u can get the parts for a K swap for 5 grand or less, and this way when youre done ull have 2K left over for bolt ons and other neccesities, u can build a b18 to beat a K with 7k ofcouse but everyone has a b18 nowadays, look ahead and be one of the first instead of waiting 5 years for everyone else to get a K first

omg, 7 grand into the motor alone, forget the b-series. build an h22 and turbo that sucker. you'll see way more than 200 horses. or even better build the h22 and do an h2b setup with turbo. uuuuuuhhhhhh.....ok im drooling now
